Serena Williams Might Break the Internet With Her Wedding
New parents, tennis talent, Serena Williams, and Reddit Co-Founder, Alexis Ohanian, are taking the second most important step in their relationship today (the first happened almost three months ago, with the birth of their STUNNING baby girl, Alexis Olympia) - becoming man and wife in New Orleans, Louisiana. They got engaged last December, and will be closing out 2017 with a marriage and a baby: two for two!
We’re going to have to wait for all the details, with Daily Mail alleging that Serena promised Vogue’s Anna Wintour the exclusive on her wedding for the January issue, but for now, we’ve been piecing together the pre-nuptials puzzle. And from our vantage point, it seems like the union is going to be celebrated in the most baller way possible - game, set, match.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the wedding will have a Belle+Beast vibe. Whether that means ball gowns, cravats and pantaloons, waltzes, super fine china and lots of grey stuff, we’ll have to see, but we can’t wait to hear how it played out. Baby Alexis could totally play a cherub-y little Chip!

During Serena’s girls’ weekend in NYC last month, she bached-like-a-boss with five-star spa treatments, trapezing, brunches with tea, and everyone needed to wear white in solidarity. Soooo, who knows if Serena and Alexis have put a similar dress code to work for their wedding?

Serena donned a white Versace gown for her rehearsal dinner, and stepped out in Nike kicks to match. A total work hard, play hard ensem. She’s also said to be wearing Versace for the big event, but will be changing out her dresses a few times during the night. Sneakers welcome. Hoping that Serena rocks a flower crown too, a little mommy+me moment wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world…

The couple invited guests (famous and not) to NOLA’s number one cuisinier, Emeril Lagasse’s, new restaurant, Meril, where they paid him a crazy amount of money to close it down and exclusively dedicate themselves to their dining delight. They ate rock shrimp tacos, smoked pork belly (OF COURSE), and candied pork ribs, all of which are currently making our mouths water. We imagine the wedding menu will be just as southern-inspired, if a Cafe du Monde food truck already delivered late-night beignets by the bunches at the rehearsal dinner.

hollywood heavy hitters in attendance
Apart from Serena’s family (specifically, her sisters who will be in her wedding party), the 250-person guest list will be stacked with some of the most famous names in music, television and fashion. Yeah, we’ll name drop… Beyonce herself is expected to come, along with a few of the Kardashians, Lala Anthony, Ciara, pal Eva Longoria, Colton Haynes, just to name a few.

Rumors have been flying that the wedding weekend will continue into Friday morning, with an after-party brunch at the Ace Hotel to include a DJ, games and a recovery bar. Because, well celebs being hungover isn’t really a good look.

utterly unplugged
Also mentioned in the Daily Mail, the two are apparently instituting some unplugged rules. Guests of their rehearsal dinner were spotted getting out of their bus caravan holding Yondrs, devices that lock up your phone to avoid cellular temptation. With the Vogue embargo, we could only assume that all the wedding festivities would be off the radar too -- but we shall see what hits the social media spheres.
