Keep Your Word
If you say you're going to do something. DO IT. Please. If you don't plan on doing it or if the plans change, say it OUT LOUD in words to us. Then we know and our feelings won't get hurt and we will be less likely to resent you. If you change your mind, speak up and say that you changed your mind. Better yet, don't even say words you don't mean. Promises are nothing unless they are kept. It drives us to the brink of institutional insanity when you tell us one thing and do another. If you put this into practice, your relationship will undoubtably improve. No joke.
Monday "Let's go to the movies on Friday."
Wednesday finds out he has to work or something urgent comes up on Friday
ALSO Wednesday "Let's reschedule the movies becuase ..."
1st Week of August "Let's go to Treebones Resort the last week of August."
3rd Week of August decides he no longer wants to go
ALSO 3rd Week of August "Let's cancel our trip becuase ..."
We are far less disappointed if we know in advance that plans are chaging.
