When dressing black tie, remember that you don't want to show buttons on your dress shirt. That might mean a fly front dress shirt (as shown in this image) or wearing the more traditional studs, in lieu of buttons. Regardless, always be on time to your wedding!

The midnight blue tuxedo. In natural light, it comes off looking bluish, but for your evening event or wedding reception, it actually appears darker than black. One of James Bond's go-to tuxedos!

The Nehru suit. Popular at Indian weddings, it is also a great alternative to the traditional Western suit. With its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic, it's a great modern look for the fashion forward groom! When going black tie, consider wearing a fun midnight blue cloth. It may appear blue in daylight, but under artificial lighting (as is the case with evening black tie events), the cloth has a tendency to actually look darker than black, thus setting your wedding tuxedo apart from the crowd. Plus, James Bond would approve!

One of the best pieces of advice that we give to our grooms this time of year is to put some thought into their groom's attire, put it on, and then forget it about and have fun! After all, your wedding is just a great big party. *You* wear your clothes, not the other way around. And when you wear something that you feel good in, it just makes everything easier.

Working button holes (aka surgeon cuffs) are a sign of a quality suit. While most sleeve button holes today are purely for decorative purposes, the historically correct style is for them to be working button holes. It's another way to show that your wedding suit is no ordinary suit.

If ever there was a timeless style for something like jacket linings and pocket squares, it's probably the paisley. But this isn't your grandfather's variety. Today, we see more refined versions with finer lines and sharper colors. In particular, this one matches well with the suit cloth as opposed to being a strong contrast. Makes for a great wedding suit or tuxedo, but with a touch of elegance. What do you think?

Do you know what a Nehru jacket is? Historically, it was modeled on the Indian achkan or sherwani, a garment worn by Jawaharlal Nehru, the Prime Minister of India from 1947 to 1964. Although the jacket, and its variants, have been popular at traditional Indian weddings for some time now, many of you may remember the James Bond film Dr. No, where the villain (Dr. No) immortalized the jacket. One of our clients recently made a great looking Nehru wedding jacket, and one that we think, has a very modern look in this dark navy cloth. (Imagine this in a fun plaid!)

Your wedding suit or tuxedo should tell a story. And it shouldn't be just any ordinary suit. One of the details that our grooms like to take advantage of is the monogramming feature inside the jacket. It can be your groom's name, the date of the ceremony, or even a sweet note that you can give to your groom.

When you choose a great wedding suit, it can be used after the wedding too. We like to encourage our grooms to build something that's not only special for the big day, but also versatile enough for work, date night, or a fun formal event down the road. One of our favorite wedding suits is one in a peaked lapel style, which is just a touch bold. Paired with a white dress shirt and tie, it's perfect for wedding day, but it also works just fine for the office and any fancy event. Lots more tips and value-added content on our blog and website!
