How to Have a Surprise Mountain Proposal in Colorado

Share

Engaged couple looking lovingly at each other outdoors

Cam took Jia on a last-minute trip to Colorado where he surprised her at a scenic overlook and proposed! Jia looks like a total goddess in her blue mini dress which so perfectly matched the proposal florals, candles + immaculate Colorado scenery. Cam totally pulled this surprise proposal off and it’s definitely going to be a day the two will never forget.

Function & Flourish Photography was there to capture all the fun details, Erin Ashley Design provided the beautiful florals, and Honey Designs Jewelry planned every detail. You can see all the images in the full gallery.

THE PLAN

From the beginning, Cameron wanted every detail perfect for his proposal and carefully considered all aspects to ask his girlfriend to be his wife. This Spring Cameron’s custom engagement ring was complete and he was ready for the big reveal.

We met up at a local boutique hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio, and surprised him with the most beautiful unique diamond ring that he helped custom design. I (Chelsea, owner, creative, and proposal planner behind Honey Designs Jewelry), help curate the proposals for all of my clients.

LAST MINUTE TRIP

Mountain proposal scene with couple and decorated table

Cameron had said from day one that he wanted to go big for Jia and the main thing was that wherever he was to propose, there would be a view. With Covid-19 restrictions and shutdowns beginning state after state, he had not once, but twice had to completely scrap travel plans for he and Jia and was devastated.

Finally, at the beginning of July, Cam was able to plan a last-minute trip to Colorado and surprise Jia. He planned for one of their days a scenic drive that would lead to where they would be having dinner. There’s an incredible overlook right off the road in Garden of the Gods Park, where Cam had planned to propose.

PERFECT BACKDROP

We set the scene with champagne of course and beautiful florals. Cameron pulled off the road as if they were going to take a quick picture of the scenery where Jia was extremely surprised to find this set up waiting for them. Christina, the owner of Function & Flourish Photography, captured this surprise so flawlessly and raw that you can’t help but feel emotional re-living it. They enjoyed a champagne pour and went to dinner to celebrate.
