Wedding Planning Tips from a COVID-19 Bride

Wedding Planning Tips from a COVID-19 Bride

My top ten wedding tips for all of those planning during a global pandemic:

1: Breathe!

Everything will unfold (with some guidance) exactly how it’s meant to.

2: Decide your Plan A and your Plan B.

For us, Plan A is the wedding where everyone can celebrate with us. Plan B is a venue change and smaller gathering with an online ceremony for people to watch.

3: Communicate.

Communicate early and often with vendors about your plans and ask if they have any restrictions or known changes.

4: Collect email addresses.

Collect email addresses for everyone you’re inviting. I emailed as many people as possible to communicate that if plans were to change they would be notified with enough time to plan accordingly.

5: Have a bachelorette night/weekend.

If it’s safe to do so, try and have a bachelorette night/weekend. My friends and wedding party got together over the course of 24 hours. We ordered takeout, watched movies and played card games.

6: It's your party, cry if you want to.

It can be hard to feel like a bride or a groom during this period. That’s okay. It’s okay to have days where you cry from the stress and unknowns.

7: Create a deadline.

If you feel like you have to make any drastic changes, decide on a “due date”. When that date rolls around, make a decision about which plan you’re going with and commit to it.

8: No Guilt

Do not feel guilty if you change your plans. For any reason.

9: Get a Subscription Box

Get yourself some form of bridal/groom subscription box! Whether it’s a one time thing or a 3 month supply.

10: It will all be ok.

At the end of the day, you will be married to the love of your life. Whether you’re surrounded by 20 people and 100 people online or 250 in a beautiful outdoor venue. Know that whatever decision you make, it will all be okay.
