Ultra Glam Blush And Gold Wedding In Hawaii

bride and groom wedding photo idea

Nope, this is not your typical wedding in Hawaii. First of all, the 20-acre olive grove that sits at the heart of Maui feels much more Mediterranean than what we usually see in Hawaiian weddings. Talk about unique! Pair that with the super glam stylings of the whole day and Keli and John's best day ever is definitely a can't miss event.

Keep scrolling to find out how these two lovebirds met and read about how John popped the question. Plus get an inside view of what went into creating this ultra fabulous wedding day straight from the bride's mouth.  You can catch every single wedding photo taken by  Chris J. Love Takes It's Time

How Keli and John met: John and I met in August of 2014 and he was head over heels from day one, but I, on the other hand, needed a little more convincing. After about 8 months of me ghosting on him and playing hard to get I agreed to go to dinner with him and I couldn't get over just how amazing he was. We have been inseparable ever since. Want to know how John popped the question? Click here to find out!

The Proposal: It was a rainy Wednesday after work and John asked if I would like to go to dinner with him, his brother and sister in law. I went by my apartment to change and could only find pink cocktail dresses and sweatpants (I assumed it was just a serious case of laundry day but little did I know my mom had hidden everything else so I would wear a pink cocktail dress!). As John pulled up to pick me up I began to wonder if this could be "the moment" and after getting into the car I realized his nerves were through the roof! As we pulled up to get drinks I noticed that it was at the same place that we had our first kiss nearly two years ago that day. We walked inside and there was champagne ready and we stepped out onto the patio for privacy. John walked over to the perfect spot to see the Dallas skyline, he then turned to me and said that he knew from our very first date to our first kiss in that exact place that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me if I would have him and that he could not go one more day without knowing for certain that he would spend every day with me by his side. John dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. To which I replied " OMG! Wait.. is this real life?" I eventually said yes! We were then joined by his brother and sister in law who were playing photographer for the night and then headed to dinner where John had all of our family and friends waiting for us. As if that wasn't enough, during the prayer John stated: "And keep us safe during our trip to Costa Rica tomorrow." He had arranged everything with my work and my mom had packed my bags for our trip (which is why my closet was empty). We had an amazing time and it was so well planned and thoughtful."

The Fairytale Begins

The Wedding: Down a winding tree-lined road in Kula, Maui sits a Tuscan-inspired villa in earthy shades of terracotta and tawny yellow. The 20-acre olive farm is an exceptional setting for a chic wedding. At an elevation of 2200 feet, The Villa at Calasa Olive Farm boasts incredible bi-coastal views of Maui, enveloping silvery olive trees and grapevines in the cool upcountry mist. It was the perfect location for Keli and John's destination wedding.

I had one word that I envisioned for our wedding and that was enchanting. I wanted everything to feel like you just walked into a modern day fairytale. We went with rose gold, blush, and White for our color story. From the romantic chandeliers to over-the-top florals and even the custom bar menu, every detail was perfect!

That Special Moment: There are about a million things that I can say about all the details about our wedding. One thing that was really important to me was having my late father represented in our wedding. He was a pastor, a family man, and my biggest fan. I had both my brothers walk me down the aisle and my cousin Jon (who is a pastor) marry us. He used entries from my dad's journal and those three men in my life truly made me feel as though my dad was watching.

Dress To Impress

The Dress: Being a former Miss America contender, I had to go to NYC and visit Kleinfelds. I went in looking for something form-fitting and sparkly but everything felt too pageant. The very last dress that I tried on was a Mark Zannino ball gown with a white beaded bodice. I finally felt that amazing feeling and I said yes to the dress!

For the reception, I channeled my inner Marilyn Monroe and went with a form-fitting mermaid style dress. John even changed for the reception too—from a traditional black tux jacket to a custom white dinner jacket. He looked handsome!
