Nicole Lisanne Weddings and Events by Design wanted to something a little different and a little obscure. With the help of some very talented friends Precious and Blooming Floral Design and Rhee Bevere Photography, they made it happen. The shoot took place at the rustic Radonich Ranch in the hills of Los Gatos California, known in the wedding world as Vignette Vintage. If you are looking for a vintage wedding venue in Northern California be sure to take special note of the shoot.
Geek is Tres Chic was the wedding theme. They fell in love with the idea of the scientific geek wedding theme because of the incorporation of a lot of glass elements such as beakers, petri dishes, test tubes, eye droppers, which would all have very good light-catching elements. All of these scientific elements were sourced from laboratory supply houses so that they would be 100% authentic. Read on to see what they used to make this shoot happen in the case you would like to incorporate some of their clever ideas into your very special day.
Above is what a scientific geek chic couple might have for a sign in table. The venue had an amazing old metal medical lab cart we used for the table, from two wooden posts we suspended a backdrop of a big periodic table of elements, on the cart we had a real working microscope with little glass slides for guests to sign with a sharpie marker, and then place into a keepsake box.

Ari their lovely model wore two different gowns for the shoot. She was styled by Gabrielle's Bridal Atelier located in Campbell, California. The above gown is known as The Designer Gown by Christos. It is a princess gown with Swiss dots on french tulle, which they adorned with beautiful silk butterflies for a fun, whimsical look, The dress retails for $4100.
Ari's bouquet is made with mini calla lilies, test tubes bound in silver wire, and imported lilacs. As you see below the test tubes were were used as both floral vessels as well as filled with dyed water in yellow, blues, greens, and suspended above the table so that the centerpiece was coming from up as well as down. Floral designs on the table consisted of spring blooms such as ranunculus, orchids, thistle, star of Bethlehem, and imported grasses.

Petri dishes were filled with blue floral beads and a drop of milk to make them look like medium had been added to them. Acrylic compartmentalized trays held little silk buggies with pins stuck through them, to make a fabulous but geeky table runner under our centerpieces. The table number was named after the most famous scientific equation "E=MC2", and was affixed to a tall self-standing magnifying glass sourced from the Z Gallerie.
Menus tucked into each place setting were in the format of a scientific hypothesis "If first course, then second course, then cake and dancing!" Rentals such as the beautiful plaid-inspired Portofino Burgundy linens, black and burgundy napkins, flatware, glassware, and china were all sponsored by the amazing team at Classic Party Rentals. The flatware is Classic's Empire design which was chosen for its similar pattern to the background on the custom stationery by Marivic Cagatao, Designer and Co-Owner of Marizette Paperie, which was made to mimic graph paper.
Contempo Blue Wine Glasses were the perfect pop of color on the table along with the cylinder-shaped Cosmopolitan champagne and water glassware. Clear basket-weave Bossa Nova chargers were "clearly" the right fit for our table top since they allowed the beautiful upscale linens underneath to shine through, and their basket-weave pattern really hinted at the blend between the rustic nature of the venue, and the glass, cold, structural look of the science geek. Chargers were topped with Antique Sapphire Blue dinner plates to add yet another fun, flirty, pop of color to our table top design.
