This bride and groom did all the planning themselves for their summer wedding at the recently opened, Venue At Oakdale, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Tia and John kept their wedding design modern, clean, and minimalist, which made a statement when paired with the great white canvas of their setting. It was a beautiful day for their friends and family to leisurely roam the expansive grounds of their venue and enjoy one another.  Keep scrolling to see all of the beautiful photos by Stephanie Parsley Photography. “Tia and John own a restaurant called Overtime Lounge in Maumelle, Arkansas, the same town as my studio. My nephew, Devin, works for them as a kitchen manager and that’s how we met. They were not very meticulous about the floral design. They just wanted big and lush. We incorporated white roses, lilies, larks and greenery for this design,” says Billy Evans-Delrie with Sherwood Florist & Every Blooming Thing.

During cocktail hour, guests were served an elaborate fruit, cheese and vegetable display. Fresh seasonal fruit was served with a creamy fruit dip along with an array of vibrantly-colored garden fresh vegetables and an assortment of cheeses. All items were arranged as an artful grazing table and served alongside crackers and freshly baked breads. This became a major focal point of their event. In addition, passed hors d'oeuvres made their rounds in the form of cheese-stuffed mushrooms, saucy Asian meatballs and an Arkansas fan favorite called razorback bites, which are applewood-smoked and house-cured bacon bites tossed with a sweet onion jalapeno barbeque sauce.

Dinner consisted of two entrees, wok-charred beef, which is a tenderly marinated steak combined with mushrooms, onions, shallots, chilies, garlic, and red and green bell peppers tossed in a savory Kung Pao sauce and served with vermicelli noodles and Kung Pao chicken, a spicy Oriental favorite with stir-fry chunks of chicken breast with peanuts, fresh broccoli, and green onions with Kung Pao sauce, served over jasmine rice. Guests had a choice of green bean Provencal, fried rice and dinner salad as side options.  "Tia and John came to us very close to their wedding date. We worked quickly to get them taken care of. They were very easy to work with and knew exactly what food they wanted to serve their guests. They simply wanted everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy their time together," says Leah Seale with Vibrant Occasions Catering.  “The food was wonderful. Our caterer went above and beyond our expectations. If I were to describe my wedding day in three words they would be beautiful, breathtaking, and dazzling. I couldn't have asked for a better day,” said Tia, the bride.

WOrds of Wisdom

1. When designing with minimalism in mind, plan for the floral design to remain lush in a single color with a big splash of greenery.

2. Incorporate cultural components from each family into the wedding menu.

3. When faced with a large space to fill, use a massive grazing table as a focal point for added interest.
