This West Yakima Valley Wedding Shoot Mixes All the Best Trends for a Major Modern Boho Look
It's amazing just how impactful a single flower or one intentional, decorative element can be in setting a true vibe for a wedding day. In the case of this editorial shoot, there were a few principal pieces that set a tone, but the real hallmark of the modern, boho look was the neutral pampas grass. The photos are truly unbelievable, you can almost get a little breeze or chill looking at the arrangements: so wild, so spirited. And given how frenetic and unwieldy 2020 was, this shoot was particularly poignant. The vendors all agreed that in the midst of struggle and uncertainty, creativity and magic still come out on top - throw love into the mix, and you've got something very special.

Inspiration for this West Yakima Valley Wedding
Inspired by soft and muted fall color hues, geometric shapes, and combination of fresh and dried floral elements, this styled set at Oakshire Estate & Airfield is perfect for couples looking for a modern-boho, yet minimalist vibe and, at the same time, wanting to keep its elegant, classy, and romantic feel.
The Florals
We used both dried elements as well as locally-grown and seasonal fresh-cut blooms from the floral farm of My Garden Over Floweth. The floras, which included pampas grass, dahlias, protea, lisianthus, celosia, and eucalyptus, sung sublimely with the fall color palette.
The arrangements
The bouquet and ceremony swags were very wild, flowy, and bohemian in styling. Mixed with the modern ceremony pieces, they were an amazing blend of boho/modern. The table was adorned with simple bud vases holding some lightly-tousled blooms, grasses, and greens as well as a small centerpiece that allowed everything else on the tabletop to shine.
The tablescape
A minimal layout was the concept here, adorned with luxurious, unique, and thoughtfully-curated details: the gorgeous copper metallic luxury linen from Nuage Designs, customized table numbers from Carly Allred and RoundTuit Creations (who also furnished the amazing geometric backdrops for ceremony), and the personalized French macarons made by Kinder Kakery served as a proper place card and as a sweet favor arranged at each place setting.
THE DRESS
All-natural, bohemian inspiration with a touch of refined glamour— it was our boho goddess bride's entire dream come true from Essense of Australia. Falling at varying lengths over the natural waistline and onto the skirt of layered glitter tulle and Regency organza, these details truly shine throughout this whimsical yet elevated design, which showcases a dramatic plunging neckline. A clean V-back detail is created with sheer panels covered in leaf detailing for a head-turning statement (to the more traditional floral detailing), while the back of the skirt flows out into a lush, frothy train.
The veil is a handcrafted cathedral length confection by NYC designer, Jennifer Leigh.
THE INVITATION SUITE
This invitation suite was designed with elements that were woven throughout the event. The vellum RSVP envelope featured a double-sided liner, allowing the address to shine through one side and the artwork to be visible to guests as they complete the response card. The shape of the cards was patterned after designs planned for the event, pulling in cohesive elements and shapes for guests to have a preview of what was to come from the very beginning. Always printed on luxe heavyweight paper, the colors printed in a monochromatic theme added depth and dimension without extra fuss.
The TRIO CAKE
And finally, why settle for one wedding cake when you can have three exquisitely-appointed cakes from Layered Cake Artistry. All read romantic boho using layers painted with buttercream texture, touches of edible accenting gold, and a coup de grace bestowment of beautiful fall blooms.
