This Is How You Do Boho Desert I Dos

Soo, Savannah brides, we have a proposition for you, and it only takes your being available on Thursday, October 11th. Our friends at The Big Fake Wedding are rolling into town for the evening, and if you don’t have anything specific penciled into your social calendar, you should probably plan on stopping by. A bunch of vendors who’ll be there that night actually got together (because wedding people are cool like that) for a styled shoot not so long ago, and what they turned out was wedding goals X 10000. We managed to steal some pics, so you couldn’t call BS on us, and we’d be willing to bet that all the boho brides-to-be out there book their tickets to this event ASAP after scrolling through. Take a peek and find out how to get your tickets for ½ price.

When you’re going boho, you bring your A-game

And that’s exactly what Paige Laurel Photography, Ivory & Beau, Fête Chalet, Tiny Shindigs, and a few other friends did when it came to this dip-dyed shibori wedding vibe. With a hand-painted backdrop, craft cocktail bar, macrame bridal bouquet, and all the 🌵motifs we could ever want, this styled shoot takes you straight-up to boho desert heaven.

Forget flower walls…

If you want that Instagrammable moment that will guarantee ALL the likes, you basically just create a full-scale living terrarium that you and your lover can pose in front of or have guests snap selfies at all night long. A cow or bull skull adds lots of edge to the hand-painted backdrop, and so does a faux hide on the floor. Work with your florist to source a bunch of different pots for the plants, mixing textures and color, and do the same with your actual florals.

Go all in on the free-spirited fashion…

Getting a crocheted lace dress or something with fringe and calling it a day doesn’t exactly bode all that well for boho anymore. The real diehard bohemians don’t just stop there, they pair their bell-sleeved, off-the-shoulder stunners with feathers in the hair and a bouquet that’s one part protea perfection and one part macrame dreamcatcher eye-catching. And it’s beyond.

Step up your tablescape skills…

Whether you just do it for your sweetheart table, or want boho touches throughout your reception space, you can start with shibori and build from there. Honestly, I only really got into shibori after watching Making It and seeing Jo Gick go apes*** with the technique ((she is amazing, I can’t)), but consider it a more adult iteration of tie dye, super trendy and sophisticated for weddings. A tablecloth or runner done with this inky-hued patterning goes a long way. Use that as your foundation, and then layer on some cool printed plating, metallic flatware, and even a statement way to hold them (come onnnn with those wooden cacti).

Lounge and sip beside a camper…

A vintage caravan bar, that is. Set up a space for your guests to mix and mingle during cocktail hour, with rattan loungers and jacquard print upholstery or throw pillows. That faux hide can find its way back over here, too. And for the drinks, consider a signature sip that your bartender can serve up in rose gold or copper coupes. Flower floaters on top, or it didn’t happen.
