As hopeful as we are about the world right now and where it’s going (upwards thanks to science!! 🤞🤞🤞), masks aren’t going anywhere any time soon. And while it’s very upsetting that they need to be front and center at weddings, it’s a necessary evil, unfortunately. It doesn’t mean that the wedding has to be any less beautiful and meaningful - in fact, microweddings have stolen our hearts over the last year and we’re happy to see them keep trending from here on out. As for masks, just as the entire wedding world has risen to the occasion to safeguard the most special of days for brides and grooms everywhere, fashion and entertainment companies have teamed up, too, to create accessories that make masking for a major event a more-than palatable thing. Enter, The Muse Mask.
Masks put out a vibe, but when they’re more beautiful than sterile, the scaries go away
Yes, we said scaries, because that’s exactly what this year has done to all of us - made us nervous, scared, anxious, stressed. All of it. Masks have helped us slow the spread of illness and collectively be less at risk, absolutely, but they’ve also instilled a kind of on-edge ambiance in all of our social encounters and no couple wants that hanging over their wedding day (I mean, really, who would?).
It’s amazing, though, how much more at ease we can be when the masks everyone is wearing conjure memories of parties, masquerades, milestone evenings. Not hospitals or sick bays or uncertainty, altogether.
How these masks take our minds elsewhere, while our bodies stay protected
Each mask was crafted in collaboration with legendary local atelier Hinode (and first conceptualized by a son and his ballroom dance dress shop owner mother). Established in 1985, Hinode is a company that has made a name for itself by hand-crafting high-quality garments for the performance industry: kabuki stage shows, opera, ballet, drama, musicals, commercials, and concerts across Japan. From the initial idea to the final creation, the 10 handmade, gaze-grabbing masks that are available now took months and months of rigorous testing, feedback, and development to perfect.
They feature spectacular Austrian, Swarovski glass, hand-dyed lace, and extra fancy flourishes that are ready for the dance floor. They’re not only beautiful, either, each of the masks also features adjustable straps and room for a filter, for added protection. The team at The Muse Mask hopes that these accessories will usher in a fashionable embrace of the new normal: offering couples a chance to make themselves shine and stay safe on a day that should be all about their love - no distractions!
