You know, it’s a pretty common misconception that couples getting married enlist wedding planners because they don’t want to deal with all the stress that goes into the event. At the end of the day, we all deal with stress on a DAILY basis, so planning a wedding, albeit particularly stressful, isn’t exactly grounds for completely giving up and deferring to someone else’s judgment. After all, it’s your wedding, and as tempting as it is to just wear the ring and leave ALL the other things to someone else, you do want to have some control, some vision, some influence over your own ‘I Dos.’ Sam Barrett, owner and lead designer behind the Samantha Barrett Events team, absolutely loves working with her clients to dream up a day that is utterly and entirely unique to them. She even goes out of her way to learn more about her lovers just to make sure she infuses each intimate detail of their nuptials with a dose of their own, signature dynamic. But at the forefront of everything she does, she prides herself in coordinating events that have a good flow and natural vibe to them. That’s her goal.

What’s flow and why’s it important?

Seriously, we’ve heard other planners talk about their work before, but no one has laid out their mission in wedding planning like Sam has. Straightest shooter EVER, and it’s unbelievably refreshing. A wedding is one day, and it goes incredibly fast, of course, but if you’re in the midst of all of it, and things start to fall apart, minutes can feel like hours, hours can feel like days. And in what’s supposed to be the greatest day of your life, you start to rush it all away just to move onto the next portion of the event and hope that it fares better than the last.

This is why couples hire planners, because these individuals are experts, neh masterminds of managing a timeline, communicating with and corralling vendors, orchestrating an overall ambiance and atmosphere that is both pleasing to the couple and their guests. It’s great when you have a lot of wonderful ideas, when you’re incredibly inspired, but if you don’t have the wherewithal to put it all together and anticipate how it’ll all work together, well then that’s where things start to combust.

So, does she have her own flow?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Sam operates with the understanding that detailed planning always makes for an effortless event. They are intentional about absolutely everything they do - from vendor recommendations to floral design and rental procurement - so that they can continue creating unforgettable moments that are unique to you. They start with a personal consultation to get to know their couples and assess whether they’re a good fit, and then after getting to know them, their vision and their style, they combine all of their recon and resources to plan the wedding of their dreams.

Being this good at event management isn’t something everyone is born with (psssh, I’ve worked in events and PR for close to a decade and even I still struggle HARD with it), but Sam has serious skills; plus, she never underestimates just how much work she has ahead of her. That’s huge, especially when she does this for a living - you’d assume she has a cadence, checklist, flowchart for everything - but she doesn’t. She treats all of her clients differently and recognizes all of their unique wedding needs. Hard work and what she describes as “meticulous oversight” are what drives the success of each of her weddings.

She’s booking 2019 and 2020 weddings RN, so reach out if you know you need help with flow.
