You might be wondering why the first image you see is of a bed. Well, I visited Convento do Espinheiro's website and got sucked in. I was not exactly sure where in the world this resort was, but I could not stop starring at the property, the wedding locations, and the bedrooms. Everything is magnificent. After a little googling, I figured out this historical resort is in Portugal, and I can see why our next couple, Dina and Martinho's, wanted to have their wedding here. Please scroll down to take in all the beauty of this lovely wedding designed by The Wedding Wonderland.
You can see more of the resort in the full gallery here, photographed by Atmosphere. Don't miss the full wedding film by Storytelling. You're able to see their entire day.
Dina and Martinho's love story started back in 2017. They officially met in August, but have known for a long time of each other’s existence through a common friend. They finally met on a late August afternoon followed by many others, drinking good wine and enjoying Lisbon’s warm sunsets.
From The Wedding Wonderland -When I met Dina and Martinho, they had no clue of what kind of wedding they wanted to host. The only thing they were really sure is that they wanted a catholic ceremony which was the starting point for our venue. Our choice fell on the luxurious Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa. The 15th century former convent and it’s stunning chapel were the perfect stage for Dina and Martinho love celebration.
The Wedding Wonderland shares how the wedding came to life. While creating the wedding concept I was immediately inspired by the sophisticated country vibe of the location along with our couple’s love for fine wine. My goal was to design a wedding that honored their love and at the same time reflected their personality.
Our vision came to life at an al fresco dinner, under twinkle lights in a warm Alentejo summer night.
Our pastel palette was beautifully presented in the reception place, where tables were adorned with lush, organic feeling arrangements, vintage inspired tableware, sky blue napkins and candles that gave off a soft, romantic ambiance. Each element was intentionally chosen to reflect the couple’s passion for fine wine. The handwritten place-cards hold with bottle corks from the bride and groom's wine collection. There were also vine leafs and bunches of grapes on every table and even on their wedding cake.
