behind the diy scenes

Our wedding was best described as DIY. The venue is my mom’s cousin’s airport, airplane hanger. He lined up all of the airplanes outside of the hanger for people to check out, which gave us some time between the ceremony and reception. My family and I spent all Friday before the wedding (on Saturday) decorating. My mom and I had a vision in mind for the way we wanted the wedding to look. We started to collect, repaint and restore the furniture used and we also started to gather the table decor here and there. The deer sheds belong to my husband and his family- they are big hunters and it was his touch on our decor. Our beautiful cedar arbor was cut down from his family’s ranch and built by my husband, his grandfather and cousins.

Get a First Look

I wish I would have done the "first look" with Nick. I did love the look on his face as I walked down the aisle. However, I wanted to talk to him, to know what he was thinking; I wanted that moment for just us two to enjoy each other without interruption. You don't really get alone time until after the wedding is over. We used My Celebration to obtain the flowers, but because we had our vision, we arranged them ourselves. It’s one thing to have your own wedding, it’s another thing to be proud of everything you did for your own wedding. Plus, you save a lot of money!
