Hand Drawn Wedding Invitations
From the Bride: Most of the paper goods and signage were illustrated and designed by myself or handmade by using free templates that I found on the Internet. I really enjoyed creating personal touches using my favorite color pink and tones of peach, coral, ivory and some gold glitter
One Crafty Bride
I love to craft, so our wedding became one big DIY project. From the confetti bags, to the fringe party hats, ribbon ceremony backdrop, hundreds of noisemakers, paper flowers, banners, tassels, garlands, DIY letters, handmade rose petal cones, glitter jars and ribbon wands. I invested so many evenings in making all decorations
Mason jars from the one-dollar store were used for multiple purposes. Not only to store cookies but also to fill with flowers. I dipped the jars in gold glitter and sprayed them in a light peachy color. In order to create a softer feel, I finished them off with blush, peach and ivory ribbons.
A Very Special Moment
The most memorable moment for us was the ceremony when J and I met each other for the first time as well as seeing our friends and family again after spending several years in New York City. I still see the tears of happiness on his face as I walked down the aisle with my dad and our flower girls.
Party Like You're Royalty
Our wedding was held at a mansion located in a forest east of the Netherlands that used to be the party house of the royals back in the 16th century. We wanted the wedding to feel chic and classy but at the same time relax, fun and whimsical. But since the venue was anything but whimsical by nature, we added lots of whimsical touches to the classic venue
If Feels Just Like Home
Our guests remarked that the whole setting looked exactly like stepping into our apartment. This was not really a surprise because we brought half of our interior to the venue. Lot’s of personal things from our home such as the picture frames on the wall, the lanterns in front of our door, our candles and trays mixed in with some whimsical touches like pink carpets (we had three of them in total!), giant pink balloons, lots of gold glitter stuff.
Candy Bar & Birthday Cake
For the candy bar, I bought peach silk and tulle in New York’s garment districts to use as a tablecloth. I bought pink cupcakes and edible gold macaroons the day before my wedding and topped them with free printable cake toppers. My mother baked heart-shaped cookies and cookies in our initials.
Because our wedding day was also my mother’s birthday, aside from the wedding cake I bought my mother a small pink ruffle surprise cake and decorated the cake with lots of candles. After we cut our wedding cake, she had to blow her candles and we sung her a happy birthday song.

The wedding took months of planning and crafting but the day itself went by so fast. If I had to do it all over again I would have chosen a cheaper venue and dress, but have a wedding weekend instead.
I would have hired a wedding planner too. I organized everything by myself but it would have saved me from some headaches if there had been someone who did all the negotiations for me.
I can’t share the exact costs but here our top 3 biggest expenses:
1.) Catering (was mostly provided by the venue)
3.) Live band
