I asked Stephanie Lairson, one of Southern California’s most distinguished wedding coordinators her thoughts on lighting. Here’s what Stephanie had to say:
Lighting is a MUST. It is THE wow factor! Lighting provides instant ambience and makes a statement - whether that be funky or elegant – even before guests have taken a seat. Of course, flowers and linens are key elements to your guest tables but I would urge brides not to spend their entire budget on these two items. I know budgets come in all sizes. Some brides might be thinking that lighting is too “over the top” or expensive. Lighting also comes in all sizes. Most hotels have their own Audio Visual departments and can provide simple up-lighting for a nominal fee. Or on the opposite end of the spectrum, you can hire a lighting company to put together a custom package. You can have lights changing colors throughout the evening - maybe different colors for different foodcourses – or lighting that changes with music. The options are truly endless!
