Nick + Megan | Don’t Stop Believing

proposal

I’m sure most everyone would say that their wedding was truly special and memorable. Ours was no different. I met Megan my senior year of college in northern Minnesota. I was from outside of Detroit and she was from a small town in southern Minnesota. I was captain of the baseball team and she was a member of the equestrian team. From our first date we hit it off and complimented each other in every fashion possible. After two years of long distance dating we got engaged on the pitching mound of a team I coached.

Since both of us were from different states, we decided to get married in South Dakota where I was currently living. Both families would have to travel and stay overnight, making the experience that much more fun. We decided to have a traditional, vintage wedding, mixed with a baseball theme. The church we chose was the oldest church in South Dakota, with the banquet hall supporting the vintage feel. We brought in a home plate to get married over, and had cake toppers of a groom pitching to a bride. The wedding was setting up to be perfect!

bridal-party

The reason weddings become fun is due to the people involved. We could not begin to express the love we felt from family and friends. We had family members and friends that we hadn’t been able to see for years due to the economy, fly in for our big day. People came in from, California, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, and North Dakota. Our DJ was Scott, from Something Blue Entertainment. He was an old neighborhood friend and drove all of his equipment overnight from Michigan to South Dakota. When the big day came, all everyone wanted to do was party and celebrate!

groomsmen

When the wedding day final came, the skies were cloudy and rainy, as predicted. With having to stay inside, the groomsmen and bridesmaids had fun getting ready for the wedding. As we descended to the church the clouds opened for a beautiful 70 degrees and sunny in South Dakota. It could not have been a more beautiful setting.

The main focus of our wedding was family. We chose our wedding day because it was the anniversary of my parents wedding, who celebrated 32 years of marriage on our wedding day. The ceremony had our musical parents joining in song as a tribute to us. Our brothers lit our unity candle. The reception had two cakes, one for us and one for my parents. We celebrated 50 years of marriage of my aunt and uncle. Surprise speeches were made from family members. All in all it was a celebration of family.

dancing

The wedding went off without a hitch. We laughed, cried, and danced the night away. The DJ was interactive with the group and the dance floor was never empty. Everything from start to finish was a dream wedding come true!

With such a perfect and meaningful wedding, we wanted to capture that emotion. There is no better way to capture it than giving the people involved the camera. WeddingMix was an easy choice for us! Not only were they great to work with and offered great hospitality and ideas, but the quality cannot be beat! What is so unique about WeddingMix, is I can now go back and see how my bride was feeling the hours before the wedding and she can see what pranks the groomsmen were up to. One of the most memorable times for our wedding was right after the ceremony, when the bridal party was in the limo drinking champagne and Tom Petty came on over the radio. The whole bridal party began singing the classic tune as we cruised around the town. That amazing, fun moment was caught on film. If it wasn’t for WeddingMix, we would not be able to share that with others. I have recommended WeddingMix to everyone I know that is getting married. There is no better way to capture the big day than to have the people closes to you film it. We are truly lucky to have found WeddingMix!
