Moody Outdoor Romance Wedding with Gorgeous DIY Flowers

Moody romance wedding with DIY florals

Yes, you can DIY your flowers and still have a romantic outdoor wedding! This bride ordered her flowers from Blooms By The Box and with the help of family and friends, they assembled every bouquet and centerpiece you’re about to see! Talk about a labor of love, we’re truly impressed by how gorgeous they all turned out.

But that's not all there is to love...the bride's show-stopping gown by Pronovias Barcelona was the perfect look for this rustic day, especially next to those blue bridesmaid dresses from Bill Levkoff. Want more DIY ideas? Then keep scrolling, because this wedding has plenty more must-see ideas below + in the full gallery beautifully captured by Rachel Rowland.

moody colors for an outdoor wedding

From the bride: We have a shared love for the outdoors so it was a given that we would get married outside, we just didn't know where. When we found our venue, we just knew. The design we ended up going with for our wedding reflected our love for the outdoors as well as incorporating dark and moody coloring to compliment the venue itself as well as the time of year.  When we originally began looking up ideas, I was drawn more towards the outdoor woodland themes, though, and the moody designs. I also love dark colors so I knew I wanted our wedding to look that way from all the floral and linens, down to the color on my nails and lips.

Flowers DIY

The flowers were our biggest DIY. My amazing bridesmaids, my mom, and a close family friend created the centerpieces, bouquets and everything else the flowers (from Blooms By The Box) went into. The logs that we incorporated throughout the ceremony and reception were cut by my mother in-law's husband from a recent tree that fell in a friend's yard. My dad made our chicken wire seating chart stand.

Get married on a Friday

We got married on a Friday. At the time, I was really nervous about letting our guests know because they would most likely be taking a half day or a whole work day off. But when the day came, everyone was so excited to get a long weekend to spend with friends and family. We married on Friday and then had a relaxing bbq at my parent's house the next day where most of the guests came back to eat and enjoy the bliss of the wedding weekend without the pressure. It was great for my family and for us as a couple as well. It gave us time to spend with everyone and kept the excitement going for another day.

Take a trip after the wedding

Another thing I would suggest is to go somewhere with your new husband after your wedding. I completely understand a lot of couples can't afford a full honeymoon right after their wedding, but even just taking a few days somewhere I think is super healthy after the whirlwind you both just went through. Like me, most brides (and maybe some grooms) spend the majority of their year planning this one day. So when it's over, it does feel a little bittersweet. Taking that extra time after the big day really helps your minds to wind down rather than jumping back into your everyday lives Monday morning.
