Mesa, Arizona Shabby Chic Wedding

Mesa, Arizona Shabby Chic Wedding

Devon and David's wedding was filled to the brim with perfectly polished details. A color palette of peach, pink, vanilla and a touch of purple. The flowers looked good enough to eat. Lace and burlap throughout, and one incredibly draw dropping wedding alter.
Perfectly captured by Imaginale Design and designed by Rust and Lace. You have to see all the images in the full gallery by clicking here and read on the bride shares some intimate details about her shabby chic wedding.

I needed to transform my vision of a fairytale forest wedding into a backyard fantasy wedding and that's when I found My Vintage Venue in Mesa, Arizona. We wanted our guests to feel as though they were transported rather than being in an Arizona back yard; taken somewhere special. We wanted them to feel and experience our love for one another all around them.

Little did my, then, future mother-in-law know how many wedding treasures she had boxed away until we had spent the day going through storage bins, closets and sheds. It was so much fun uncovering old items, each holding a family memory and story for her to share with me. What a special blessing and privilege to share the time with her as we felt the thrill of discovery with every new find. The family cake topper from a World War II vet along with romantic love letters from David's Grandparents were amazing. The old antique bathtub that had gained quite a bit of dust while sitting in their backyard for a number of years, was a beautiful drink holder. The old 35mm cameras, and mementos from other family weddings that had aged with the years were magnificent. I also had the privilege of wearing an apron my then soon to be mother-in law wore at her wedding for a Polish tradition and since we shared the same heritage, I was able to incorporate that into one of the many things she shared with us for our wedding, and at the same time we had a wonderful mother/daughter experience.

In order to be cost efficient, I realized the first thing to go would be the cake. I loved a "sweet station" concept and that made it easy to let go of the traditional cake. A few family members and friends offered to bake cakes and AJ's Fine Foods was so very accommodating in creating our six cakes, down to every detail, from photographs that I provided. David's aunt made our smaller version of the "traditional" cake, using the cake topper from David's grandparent's wedding cake. She had never attempted a design such as ours before, yet it turned out beautifully.
