Los Angeles Geometric Wedding at Studio 1342

Geometric Wedding Ideas

Jess and Drew's wedding beautifully reflected their sense of fun, family and friends and their long history together. Their love affair with the movie “Away We Go,” mid-century modern furniture and anything gold was incorporated into the event along with nods to Jess’s profession as an architect, Drew’s wardrobe style and their Midwestern roots. They had a daring color palette of peach and hot pink hues with gold accents and hints of greyish blue. Put it all together and this wedding was 100% Jess and Drew.

From the Bride and GATHER Events:Jessica, an architect, designed and constructed the awesome gold metal shapes that were hung at the ceremony backdrop and accented on tables throughout the event space. GATHER Events softened the venue’s industrial exposed ceiling with market lighting and panels of chiffon fabric. The ceremony space was later transformed into the dance floor where a rotating disco ball set the tone for a fun evening of dancing.

The preparation for the event was a true labor of love among family and friends. Drew’s father, Jon, was ordained to perform their wedding ceremony. Drew’s mother, Teresa, a floral designer in Virginia, designed all of the florals for the event. Jessica’s friend, Dustin of Dustin & Corynn Photography, a wedding photographer back home in Indiana, was recruited to shoot their wedding.

The venue’s crisp, clean aesthetic allowed for the wedding’s design elements to sparkle, particularly all of the gold and peachy accents!

A serendipitously placed gold canvas on the studio wall became the perfect gilded backdrop for the dessert table. Walnut and white porcelain platters and stands displayed The Scootabaker’s fun cake, macaroons and cupcakes perfectly.

We knew that we didn't want our wedding to have a super formal vibe. We wanted everyone to feel comfortable to experience the evening the way they wanted, so we dropped the sit-down dinner and the strictly scripted timeline in favor of a more free flowing mix and mingle party. Yeah Rentals provided the perfect mid-century aesthetic for the lounge areas. Garlands of mylar fringe became the glitzy backdrop for the event’s photo booth. Guests struck a pose with handheld props and chalkboard signs.

We wanted to incorporate the movie "Away We Go" into the evening somehow. It is just so us. If you take out the whole being pregnant part, it's the story of a couple who are entering a new stage of life, not knowing where they are going to end up, and all they have is each other. That was pretty much us a year and a half ago. “Away We Go”, was projected onto the side of Studio 1342 for guests to watch while roaming throughout the venue.
