Recently, I was invited to experience The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. I know, I know poor me. It just so happened that like three feet of snow dumped over the past day and a half by the time I arrived. Perfect, because I was going to ski for the first time in twenty years. Can you sense may sarcasm? Scared ****less. Just breathe, Amy. Just breathe. Typically being afraid of my own shadow, I was determined to embrace this amazing experience and put my fears aside and as Andrew Rannells would say, "Just turn off your feelings." I'm getting off track here, let's focus.
I arrived to the resort and was greeted so warmly. I love that. The entrance was grand and rustic, of course, we are on a mountain after all. Made my way to my room to find the pleasantries of wonderful and cozy, kind of like walking into a hug. Are you getting the gist of what I'm saying here. The perception of luxury, fancy and stuffy was washed away and replaced with warm and cozy.
Before we dive into the accessibility of having your wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, let's talk about some fun stuff they offer.
skiing at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe
Northstar California Resort provided us with equipment rentals and private ski lessons. That's my pal Scott above and it turns out we both grew up in Alaska and went to rival high schools, albeit he was 10 years behind me. Scott and I were with our instructor, Harry, the cutest Kiwi you ever did meet. Patience of a saint. When I stepped on my skis, I felt like a newborn fawn and quickly became nervous and so sweaty. It's been quite a bit since I've been on the slopes although I was an avid skier until I moved to California.
The lesson began and I was really holding up the operation with my inexperience. I was shuffling along behind everyone praying that the ski gods spare me some humiliation. Well, guess what? Two runs down the bunny slopes and I'm back BABY! It just comes back. With many thanks to Harry, I gave up pizza for french fries and it was on! What an amazing feeling, I'm hooked and I can't wait to go back.
What is Marshmology you ask? Well, it's just gourmet marshmallows and all the fixins' to make a perfect s'more in the mountains after a day on the slopes. It's part of après ski, don't worry we'll get to that. Think of a decadent s'mores buffet if you will. It's adult palate paradise. This can easily be incorporated into your winter or summer wedding in Tahoe, we approve!
For those of you like me who are not fancy, Après Ski is described as the social activities and entertainment following a day's skiing. Who knew, not this girl. Our Après Ski festivities included Marshmology, champagne on ice and seafood.
After a long day on the mountain, we would finish up with hot chocolate. The The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe offers Adult Hot Chocolate on their menu. It's like my favorite pastime, but boozy! Cheers!
We were wined and dined and treated to the spa. Amazing meals at every turn, the warmest staff and a glorious massage. The resort isn't gigantic and I loved being able to zip around to grab a coffee or swing by the spa for a steam, they also have a really nice gym (which I did not use and I have no guilt). With windows everywhere, you could not miss the majestic snowy mountain views.
