It’s Friday, and we’ve just gotten an amazing present via goop: all the details we could ever want about its founder’s September wedding. TG, too, because I was honestly starting to get bored with the slow down on celebrity wedding news. Nick and Priyanka, Joe and Sophie, please, give us somethingggg else to work with!!
Anyhow, GP’s wedding day is kind of everything that any NYC-based bride has probably ever dreamed of. Clean, sophisticated, articulate, modern, all with a touch of feminine energy that is just so her usj. And we’ve already gone through the gallery of photos that she and her team dropped on site about 6 or 7 times. There was a beautiful custom bar with a ‘wild’ (a theme that floral phenoms Putnam & Putnam wove into all of the event’s floral artistry) botanical wallpaper motif behind it, fire-art-worthy classic cocktails of gin, lemon juice and thyme, a dirty martini bar cart, a beyond-impressive, slightly Italian-inspired culinary experience for guests a la Mario Carbone (amazing chef and restaurateur, and whose restaurant Gwen and Brad shared their first date at), toasts with Ruinart rose champagne, personalized mini cakes for guests - half had her choice, carrot, the other half enjoyed his - chocolate+vanilla.
The couple’s daughters wore perfect white Monique Lhuillier dresses, he dressed in Tom Ford, and she wore custom Valentino. A breathtaking blend of romance, femininity, starlet-like sway. And what we love even more is that this look isn’t entirely new in the bridal arena. Celebrities often have such an impulse to wear something shockingly-edgy on their wedding days, but this dress was understated and flawless in its simplicity. Confectioned from lace and featuring a swiss dot pattern throughout, her bespoke Valentino silhouette had a fitted bodice, a striking illusion neckline, cap sleeves, an open back, and a delicate, yet dramatic skirt. She completed her look with a cathedral-length veil that glided effortlessly down her back and over her signature soft blonde locks.
... she finally got to go 'all in'
As noted in Vanity Fair, early on in her wedding planning process, she had shared that she never really had a ‘proper’ wedding with Chris Martin. So, for this time around, she looked forward to ‘everything,’ including her aisle style debut. What she missed at her first wedding, she certainly made up for with this amazing ensemble.
Lovin' hard on lace
I always wanted to wear lace for my wedding, but when the time came to try on dresses, I just never liked any of the lace styles on ME. That being said, I think lace just truly makes a bride. From Kate Middleton to Grace Kelly, Karlie Kloss to Nikki Reed, all of these women rocked lace in big ways on their big days. And now that GP has joined their ranks, we can be sureeee the trend is going to stay strong.
Brides with love for lace, we rounded up 9 of the prettiest lace gowns for your perusal. Some are super close to Mrs. Falchuk’s, while others are more inspired. But all of them are undoubtedly reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow timeless perfection.
