Going Green Never Looked So Good

Going Green Never Looked So Good

Many modern couples are looking for ways to make their weddings more sustainable or at least lessen the carbon footprint of a one-day celebration. For this couple, this was extra important because the bride is the proud owner of a zero-waste company. From the reusable linen envelopes and QR code invitations to the dried florals in the arrangments, this couple incorporated as many sustainable ideas into their big day as they could. They also opted for an entirely outdoor affair which eliminates the need to heat or cool a venue space (which takes a ton of electricity!).

Big Day Events understood how important sustainability was to Venecia and Marcos and made an effort to find other vendors with the same values and practices. Big Day Events not only designed this beautiful wedding, they created most of the floral arrangements as well with help from Atix Home on the bouquet! With its incredible view of Quito and traditional Spanish architecture, Quinta El Alcazar was the perfect venue for this boho wedding. Michelle Agurto captured every smile, every kiss, and every beautiful detail in these gorgeous photos! THAT VIEW THOUGH

Venecia and Marcos are one of those couples that make you want to be friends with them immediately, they are kind-hearted, warm, cool people, and they had the sweetest intimate wedding ever. They got married in Quinta El Alcazar, a stunning venue that overlooks the most beautiful view of Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Venecia loves all things organic and sustainable, and she owns an amazing business named "Un Cuartito Verde" (in English, little green room) where she sells natural and zero-waste items and she incorporated that in her wedding as well.

SOME SERIOUS DIY

Venecia wanted a soft natural look for her wedding and she even did her own hair and makeup as it was important for her to look natural, but especially because she wanted to use less makeup products to reduce waste. She achieved just that and looked stunning! The groom designed his attire. He chose the color of his suit which was olive green and he picked the fabrics as well. He wanted to match the colors of his attire with the decor, which is so awesome!

KEEPING IT NATURAL

The concept of their wedding was a whimsical bohemian natural vibe. They had neutral and gold colors in all of the florals and a lot of pampas grass (which we all love) was used in the decoration made by Big Day Events. The bouquet and boutonniere were made out of dried flowers by Atix Home. Venecia made the invitation envelopes using a linen fabric so the guests can re-use the envelopes in the future causing no paper waste. They also incorporated QR codes in the invitation where the guests could find all the information about the wedding instead of adding additional paper to the invitation. The wedding cake was made by Mu Lalå, a beautiful coffee shop and brunch restaurant. The cake was made up of 3 tiers, they were gorgeous, decorated with orange slices and florals matching the wedding decoration and it tasted even better than it looked! Besides the heart-melting speeches given by their family, I must admit the highlight of the night was when the groom sang Frank Sinatra songs to the bride, it really was one of the sweetest moments and everybody was tearing up with joy, especially the bride.
