Funky Festival or Vintage Vibes? This Inspo Shoot Has Us Feeling Bold and Bright for the Big Day

Calling all retro and vintage-lovers, because this one's for you! With festival season kicking off, Taylor Decker Events wanted to incorporate their love for all things music and collaborate with real-life couple Bobby & Tracy who are die-hard indie music lovers.  For overall inspiration and design, Taylor Decker of Taylor Decker Events said it all started with a love seat. Taylor’s mom has been a preserver of vintage finds for most of her life and held onto this one-of-a-kind lime green + yellow loveseat since the actual mid-century. “It’s always been an idea of mine to tell a story with that loveseat,” Taylor said. “We knew we had to give it a proper moment!”  From lime green couches to bright orange tones, basket chandeliers, lush sunset-tone inspired florals, and festival-inspired details - this shoot isn’t missing a single note!  Keep scrolling to see all of the beautiful and inspiring photos by Three16 Photography and the stunning florals by Los Angeles Floral Couture, all put together at the venue space, Eureka Building. Type J Creative created a retro-inspired invitation suite in the bright monochromatic tones. And stuffy wedding invitation language is never required if that isn't your vibe! The designer used language and designs that represented the couple, including funky place cards and textural menu cards to create a multidimensional experience for the wedding party and guests. The fonts delightfully merged the old with the new!  The florist, also, wasn't afraid to play with different bright bloom styles and funky textures from astilbe to palm leaves. For ceremony florals, less was definitely more in this setting.  Los Angeles Floral Couture focused on photo-impact arrangements like a long tablescape of statement blooms and a “Sweetheart” floral design.

The dress inspo came from thinking about the overall wedding style and working from there.  Taylor fell in love with the “Carson” gown from the Beloved collection by Casablanca Bridal. This style dress was perfect for naturally petite bride Tracy. “It’s really important to pick a dress that the bride looks like she’s wearing, as opposed to the dress wearing her.”  For groom Bobby, Friar Tux, was just the right fit. Bobby has always had more of a bohemian style, and thanks to Friar, all grooms can find a suit that fits their personal style like this caramel dream.

For an intimate elopement setting, the design incorporated mixed up rugs + basket pendants from Sundrop Vintage. Taylor of Taylor Decker Events recommends choosing a wedding venue that allows for personal rentals or personalized touches to transform the wedding space to meet the overall vision. For location, they chose Eureka Building, a hidden gem of a garden venue in the heart of Orange County (located 6 minutes from the John Wayne airport) that comes with a modest price tag and ample market lighting. Tired of round seating at weddings? Opt for a lounge table to create a friendly, familial atmosphere with the dining experience. Consider using vintage plates from Sundrop Vintage or collecting from swap meets for the day of!  Never overlook the individual expression that comes with having a truly bespoke wedding cake like this one from Sam Samm Cakes.  To provide a fun, upbeat environment for the wedding guests, consider choosing unique entertainment like Lucky Devils Band and additional sweet treats like Cotton Candy from The Jolly Sheep. Guests will leave with a final sweet note after a beautiful day!

Advice from the experts

1. Don't be afraid to be bold in your wedding aesthetic if it's authentic to you and your partner.

2. Color can be your friend, not your foe. It's okay to move away from ivory and blush!

3. If working with a limited budget, choose rentals and details that will provide the most visual impact, and skip traditional wedding elements.
