It doesn't get more intimate than eloping on a dock in the middle of a secluded lake, that was the idea behind this magical inspiration shoot. The bride wore a simple yet elegant lace dress with a sexy open back and the groom sported a lovely gray suit and cognac leather accessories. He waited for his bride to join him at the end of the wooden dock, surrounded by palm fronds and floral arrangments in shades of orange and peach. Petals lined the aisle as the bride made her way to the love of her life as the early morning fog enveloped them.
Sound romantic? Well, Wild Smile Events was inspired to create this beautiful shoot by a real love story. Olea Floral designed these stunning and thoughtful floral arrangments that include fresh peaches as a nod to the original inspiration. Morgan Mitchinson Photography took these beautiful misty photos that make the whole shoot seem like it was just a dream. To see even more from this shoot, check out the full gallery. BASED ON A TRUE STORY
This shoot was inspired by an honest-to-goodness love story. This private beach homestead, nestled in a small corner of Kootenay Lake, is over 100 years old and was originally owned by a young husband and wife, Fred Louis Harris and Annie May Norman, they called it Honeymoon Place. Mr.Harris was quoted in an issue of the Kalso Kootenaian on April 6, 1911, describing the property, “It's ideal from every standpoint–that's what a ‘honeymoon’ is supposed to be.”. Indeed, this property is ideal from every standpoint. Although the fog hid most of the mountains that lurk in the background, the golden glow and shimmer it placed on the lake was absolutely magical. It was a joy creating and capturing this timeless love story at this magnificent location with these spectacular local vendors.
BRINGING A DREAM TO LIFE
A few peach trees, which no longer bear fruit, that Mr.Harris planted remain in the field by the beach and are now joined by a beautiful log cabin and a newly built dock that extends 130 feet into the lake. Danielle from Wild Smile Events added in fresh peaches as place card holders as part of her incredible table design as a nod to Mr.Harris, despite his questionable past, and his vision of having a thriving orchard here. Our inspiration with this shoot was to create something that you could only dream about, and I think we (all the vendors) delivered that with the brightly colored dramatic florals perfectly designed and put together by Olivia at Olea Floral, and her assistant Jessie. The mobile bar was provided and run by Megan from Vintage Pour, who crafted some vibrant drinks. The abstract colorful wedding cake was created by Wabi at Starbird Bakehouse.
