DIY Backyard Wedding from Lauren Fair Photography

From Jennifer, the bride...
When Kyle and I got engaged, we both knew that we wanted our big day to be as intimate & personal as possible so having it at Kyle’s parent’s house couldn’t have been a more perfect fit. Our wedding was definitely a labor of love! Many of our family members & friends contributed in making our wedding as perfect and beautiful as it was. Whether it was gardening & landscaping the property, building a stone wall area (which ending up being our reception area), stringing lights on trees, assembling all of our flowers, hand painting our thumbprint tree guestbook, the entire wedding planning process gave us an unforgettable bond with everyone that helped us and we wouldn’t have had that same experience if we had chosen to have our wedding at a reception hall.
I will never forget the excitement of waking up the morning of our wedding, flinging open the curtains & seeing that Mother Nature had blessed us with gorgeous weather & jumping up and down on my bed screaming & repeating “there’s no clouds in the sky!” From that point on, I was READY TO GET MARRIED! We wanted the first time that Kyle saw me in my wedding dress to be just between the two of us, and we are so happy we decided to get the First Look pictures! It was so intimate & sweet…it immediately put us at ease for the Ceremony. Having both my parents walk me down the aisle was extremely important to me since my Mom raised me just as much as my Dad did. Having Kyle’s Dad get choked up as he performed our Ceremony us was such a touching moment.
One of Kyle’s closest friends, Joe, is in a band named Hyperactive. So there definitely was never any question on who would be playing on our big day! We surprised all of our guests and had an ice cream stand set up from my favorite Ice Cream Shop, Springer’s from Stone Harbor, NJ, and it was a huge hit! Since we made the playlist for when the band went on break, we must have played “Call Me Maybe” at least three times throughout the reception. During one of the times we played it, we glanced over to see Lauren and Tim, our photographers, dancing to the song with everyone! It was so refreshing and heartwarming to see how much fun they were having and it showed how much they LOVE THEIR JOB. Their passion to capture every single moment of our wedding shined through in every picture and we will always be indebted to them for all of their creativity, insight and hard work which undoubtedly comes from their hearts and souls.
