Bring That Blue And White Beach Theme Into Your Garden Wedding

Bring That Blue And White Beach Theme Into Your Garden Wedding

There is something so chic and minimal about a beach wedding day with a white beach set against blue water, but who wants to muck about with all that sand? So here's an idea, why not bring that same beachy elegance to your garden party wedding? Genius!

You can follow our next wedding couple as they and their 20+ wedding party take the party from the seaside to the church and then on to a splendid wedding reception at the Darlington House. Catch all of their photos in the full gallery thanks to the talented Nicole Clarey.

The Inspiration

Our wedding day would be the last time we saw many of our friends and family before moving to Germany for 3 years, so all we wanted was to be surrounded by one big celebration of love on our wedding day. Chris was deployed for 6 months and returned home just a few weeks before our wedding. That meant the whole planning process was up to me and our unbelievable vendors.

Aubrey, from Details, Darling, was the most wonderful planner to work with and truly helped our vision come to life. Chris and I both come from Hispanic families and we wanted to celebrate that throughout our day. When it came to the venue we found the Darlington House in La Jolla to be the perfect mix of elegance and natural beauty with all the Spanish accents we dreamed of. Once the venue was set, everything else fell into place!

I decided I wanted the color scheme of the day to be very simple and natural with the pops of dusty blue hues. I loved how the blue hues completed the simple whites and greens in the Darlington House courtyards.

The Flowers

For the florals, I just asked our florist for greenery with white flowers...and an explosion of candles for an even more romantic feel to the night! Everything appeared so natural - the wood tables, the green garlands, the romantic candles - it was truly dreamy!

The Seating

For our escort table, I knew I wanted to stray from the traditional seating chart. Pulling our heritage back into the design, we used blue and white Talavera tiles for our escort cards, which also doubled as coasters for our guests to take home with them!

Above the table display we had Kenzie from Details, Darling calligraphy a beautiful sign for us. The quote reads "Always remember, there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name." The quote is from a song by our favorite band, The Avett Brothers, and rings so true for us - on a wedding day you are celebrating two families coming together and celebrating those family names that have made you who you are, as well as gaining a new name! The escort table was by far my favorite part of our reception space!

The Ceremony

Chris and I chose to say traditional Catholic vows during our ceremony, but we still had so many personal vows we wanted to say to each other, just in a more private setting, so instead of writing letters to each other for the morning of the wedding, we wrote our own vows to each other. Rebecca Green designed our beautiful vow books and they're such a precious keepsake from our day that we will have forever.

We had a very large wedding party - 10 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen! We figured we could either have a few people OR have all of our best friends stand by our sides...we clearly opted for the option to be surrounded by everyone and it was the best decision ever. We had such a blast, especially on the morning of the wedding!

The Pre-Wedding Fun

That morning was anything but quiet. Starting the morning off with mimosas, music, and best friends - there is literally nothing better! Chris's groomsmen all wore their different service uniforms and since they were not matching I felt that it would look odd if all my bridesmaids were in matching dresses. I decided to let them choose their own dress that they felt flawless in. They all looked absolutely flawless and the different shades they chose worked so well together!

Our wedding was an absolute dream filled with so much love. It was the perfect beginning to our new life together and, to celebrate our move to Germany, we ended the night dancing to 99 Luftballons.
