Blue and Gold Fall Wedding at the Eden Try Estate and Private Winery

tying the knot in Virginia

Blue and gold make a bold statement for any wedding, but we especially love the way this color palette popped against the changing leaves in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A beautifully bright and sunny day to say "I do" on the steps of the Eden Try Estate and Private Winery, we cannot get enough of Stephanie and Tim's big day!

You can see every last image of their late October nuptials, thanks to the fantastic talents of Ben and Sophia Photography! Just click here to find more details on the full gallery

It's All In The Details

From the Bride: Our wedding venue, Eden Try Estate and Private Winery, is located in quaint Fredericksburg, VA. We chose this venue not only because of its beauty, but because of its proximity to both of our families. The venue has so much to offer – a barn for the reception, multiple locations for the ceremony, small cabins for getting ready and the property itself is just gorgeous. We held both our ceremony and reception at Eden Try which was very convenient for all.

The overall look and feel of our wedding day was classic with a rustic setting. It was a perfect fall Saturday in Virginia with a chill in the air and sunshine to compliment the colorful foliage. The colors that we used were blue and gold which made for a cozy and warm setting in the barn. The blue dresses that my bridesmaids wore, Mediterranean Blue, complimented the greenery of the great outdoors so well. My husband and his groomsmen all wore ties that matched the girls’ dresses and the blue just really popped in pictures.

My mom and I have a very close relationship, so I knew I wanted to wear something that belonged to her. I wore her veil, which was originally her sister’s! I had a local seamstress make a few adjustments/additions to it, but the idea that it was worn by two family members was a really special touch. My mom helped me get dressed in my gown before the ceremony, topping off my look with the perfect placement of the veil in my hair.

A little Wedding Advice

A friend of ours gave us this advice at our rehearsal dinner.......make sure during the reception you stay close to one another and enjoy what is going on around you.  With so many items on the timeline causing you to be pulled in so many different directions, remember why you are all there.  Be sure to hold hands, slip a smooch here and there and just take one another in - this is the best day of your lives!

We did experience an "inconvenience" rather than a disaster.  Eden Try has limited parking, so we opted to use the Fredericksburg Trolley service as supplemental transportation.  A number of events were happening in Fredericksburg the day of our wedding, so we were only able to use one trolley versus two.  Many of our guests took advantage of the trolley service, causing the trolley to have to make 3 pick up rounds at the local hotels our guests were staying.  Because of the number of trips back and forth, the ceremony started 30 minutes late.  While ceremonies rarely start on time, both Tim and I were actually ready and anxious to see one another.  Looking back, I think we should have confirmed a couple of days before, how many trolleys we would be guaranteed.  If it was known the day before that only one trolley was reserved for us, we could have organized a third transportation option.
