An Inspo Shoot That Brings Your Dream Destination Wedding to You

portugal-42

The inspiration for this wedding came from dreaming during the pandemic of travelling, specifically -  in this case -  to Portugal. The intention of this shoot was to inspire couples to think outside the box and not be limited by the city they get married - it is more than possible to incorporate aspects from any part of the world that appeals to them.  If a destination wedding is not within reach, bring elements of that destination to you!   Keep scrolling to see all of the beautiful photos by  Estee Chin PhotographyKeepsake Events planned every detail, and Dafiori Design created all of the amazing florals for this special shoot at Hycroft Manor. You can see all the images in the full gallery here, and read on to hear more from the inspo designers themselves!

Creating our Portuguese dream wedding brought us so much joy. The colours of the Mediterranean took centre stage and we focused on blues, terracotta, and hints of orange as our features. Azulejos tile patterns were a must and could be found in Making Memories Stationery stationery pieces, Cake by Nicole's hand-painted wedding cake, and by using the tiles themselves. We incorporated as many Portuguese elements as possible and loved the champagne tags that read 'Salud!', the menu with traditional Portuguese dishes, and Pastel de Natas as an extra sweet treat in addition to the wedding cake. Drawing on inspiration from terracotta tiled roofs, similarly coloured potted centrepiece arrangements by Polina of Dafiori Design adorned the tables - how easy for guests to keep enjoying by them taking them home after the celebration! Polina created a fresh take on all the floral pieces used, with the perfect touches of Mediterranean hues of blue and terracotta.

We featured our real couple, Row and Seadon, to evoke as much true emotion as possible within their interactions and in the photos. We loved having Row in a beautiful modern wedding gown from Luxx Nova Boutique with clean lines that created a gorgeous silhouette. With the removable train, the dress was able to transform into something special for a slight change in look without needing to buy a completely new dress!

If you are dreaming of a destination wedding but are limited by travel budget, time away from work, by your guest list or any other reason, you can achieve a destination vibe in the city where you live.  Keep reading below for a few considerations that will help you make your dream into reality.

a few considerations for a destination-inspired wedding

1. Is there a venue in town that already has hints of the look and feel of the destination of your dreams? It could be the perfect backdrop to get you started, and after that, the sky's the limit on how you decorate it.

2. Colours evoke emotion and play such an important role to set the tone for your day. Using a few accent colours in your flowers, centrepieces, stationery, and table linens are great ways to create a cohesive look while tying together your destination vibe!

3. Food is usually at the top of every couple's list as a priority, and why not have it play into adding to your dream destination style? Choose a caterer that can recreate a specialty dish from the country you are emulating, or maybe a cocktail that you can use as your signature drink!
