The East Angel venue is a gorgeous modern space and - more importantly - a blank canvas. Keeping their style in mind, the design team from Events By The Cea created a welcoming, whimsical space with blush, ivory, green, and peach tones. From custom gift bags for the bridesmaids to DIY Hot Cheetos chip bags for the guests (playfully renamed to "Chentos"), Claudia and James infused a bit of who they are into every detail of their day.

From the bride:

What was your inspiration and goal atmosphere you wanted to create for your wedding?

Just being the best day and best party, and finally being able to have the wedding after having to postpone. I really strived to create a modern, romantic, whimsical party with good vibes where our guests felt comfortable and safe.

What unique elements or DIY details did you make sure to include?

My favorite DIY element was the chip wall we created. We spent two weeks making 100 DIY, personalized "CHENTOS" bags. It was all worth it because the guests loved it, and it really embodied who we are as a couple.

What was your favorite moment and your favorite crafted detail?

My favorite moment was walking down the aisle. I never was one to dream about my wedding day, but after having to postpone the wedding the first time, I started to plan and anticipate this walk and the song that I would play while I walked down the aisle. When the time finally came, it was so worth the wait. I loved the incorporation of the neon signs and custom napkins that tied together all the details. The sparklers were also a touch I dreamed about having, and I really liked getting ready with my bridesmaids and having them open their gifts during that time. I customized each bag with three words that described them and made them guest which bag was whose.

Share a little bit about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, etc.
For our flowers, I really wanted to create a whimsical garden vibe. I wanted the flowers to look full and robust but not in an overly structured, put-together way. I wanted it to be more organic and whimsical looking. For my gown, I again wanted to continue with a more whimsical look, but I really wanted to have two looks without having to spend money on two completely different gowns. I loved how I was able to have an overskirt that created a more fairytale A-line style, but during the reception I took off the overskirt for a more fitted look. I tried on so many dresses, and this one really captured everything I wanted with a few customization. For our favors, I really strived to create items that were dual purpose and would not just be disposed of after the wedding was over. Not only was the chip wall a wedding favor, but it also served as seating placements for everyone. I also created frosted acrylic luggage tags for each of the guests. Traveling is a huge part of our lives, so it was a little piece of us to bring along with them wherever they went.
