With a shared love of the seaside and especially Cape Cod, Lauren and Austin instantly knew where it was they would say their "I do"s. From there it was all a matter of keeping it simple and feeling natural, and with the help of their talented planner Kate Murtaugh Events & Design and a team of New England vendors, it was a massive success!

From Kate Murtaugh Events & Design
From the start, we knew that Lauren and Austin’s wedding would be unlike any other. They were one of the sweetest, most down to earth couples we’ve worked with. Their quest to get married in their favorite place in the world, Chatham, was nothing but filled with love was the perfect reflection of Cape Cod.
On a trip down to Chatham, they fell in love with a private beach front property as the backdrop and the rest is history. Lauren and Austin’s early fall wedding was inspired by the stormy, coastal waters off of Chatham. Not only were we inspired by the beautiful property itself, but the time of year as well. There is nothing like early fall in New England. The salt air smells sweeter, the coastline is nothing short of picturesque and time seems to stand still with the quieter beaches and roads.
As Lauren and Austin’s wedding planner and designer, we worked together to incorporate grey blues and natural elements like greenery, oyster shells, and driftwood to design the reception space under the sailcloth tent from American Tent and Table. Her florals were designed by Beach Plum Floral Design and filled with the most gorgeous white flowers and lush greens with lots of twinkling candlelight and hand-painted watercolor table numbers on farm tables from True North.
Vows & Cocktails
Lauren and Austin planned a short ceremony by the water where they exchanged their vows on a private beach with guests sitting on farm benches, surrounded by the most gorgeous vintage décor pieces personally acquired by the bride during trips to the famous Brimfield Antique Market. Following the ceremony, guests were able to stroll around the property with drinks and appetizers including mini lobster rolls and fresh Cape Cod oysters from William Ference Catering before sitting for a farm to table style dinner.
Their dance floor opened up early with a confetti canon introduction and was hoping for most of the night. Guests mingled and dined under the glowing sailcloth tent, against the crashing ocean waves. Rather than go the traditional route with a wedding cake, the couple opted for an amazing pie bar from Centerville Pie Company, one of Oprah Winfrey’s favorite things and a large Cape Cod saltwater taffy display.
From the Bride
One of the guideposts in our planning and design process was simplicity. We wanted the natural beauty of the venue and the Cape Cod landscape to speak for itself. Subdued design elements and complementary colors were key. Given a name, you might call it 'Classic Coastal'.
Cape Cod has always been our second home. Long before we met, it's where we spent countless childhood summers. We were engaged at one of our favorite beaches. We celebrated that evening in Chatham. Somewhere between the beginning and end of that dinner, we knew there was no better place to get married. When we eventually discovered the Turntide Estate, it was love at first sight. It was organic, minimal, and visually stunning. A historic home, with an open backyard, set against the coast. It was a blank slate without frills or expectations, and it proved the perfect canvas.
