A Rustic Spring Destination Wedding in New Orleans

Gorgeous New Orleans wedding

You’ll want to parade through the streets in celebration of Erica & Alec’s destination wedding in New Orleans. Their charming venue, Race & Religious was picture perfect for their rustic spring I do's in soft shades of purple and blush.

We could have danced all night in the brides gorgeous Hayley Paige gown with cross-back straps + flower appliqués in shades of purple. From the almond cake, to their fun second line through the city, Ariel Renae Photography beautifully captured this day in all its glory. See more when you visit the full gallery after.

Spring wedding in New Orleans

From the Bride: We wanted our wedding to be fun, beautiful and unique. I didn't really want a theme, but I kept envisioning our wedding as a rustic, spring wedding with lots of New Orleans influence. Other than my family, all of our guests were coming in from all over the country, and we knew New Orleans would be such a fun destination for them. We love the food, music and culture of the city, and it was so fun to share it with everyone! It was the first time to New Orleans for many of our guests, and they all had a blast! Our wedding venue was an obvious choice from the beginning. Race & Religious is such a unique and special place, and it screams New Orleans. Our guests couldn't stop raving about what a magical place it is!

The dress was pretty central to the overall design of the wedding. I knew pretty much from the beginning that it was going to be a Hayley Paige bride. Her dresses are just so fun and playful, and a little bit edgy. I wanted my dress to be that, but still be soft and beautiful and bridal, while being different from the traditional wedding dress. I never imagined I would choose a dress with color on it, but when I tried this one on, it was perfect! It fit everything I wanted and worked so well with what I was picturing for the design.

PARADING THROUGH THE STREETS

I come from a family of cake-lovers and our cake had to be a traditional New Orleans wedding cake. It was almond-flavored, delicious and beautiful! We couldn't have had a New Orleans wedding without a second line, a parade led by the bride and groom, followed by a brass band and all of the wedding guests. It was so much fun parading and dancing down the streets of New Orleans, and our guests were blown away. I was told by one guest that it was one of those life moments that they would never forget!

THE PERFECT PHOTOGRAPHER

We chose blush and plum with accents of muted gold as the colors of the wedding, and all of our vendors did an amazing job bringing our vision to life. Photography was super important to us, and I reached out to Ariel Renae before we even had the venue booked (although I knew it would be Race & Religious)! I had admired her work for years, and she did an amazing job capturing every moment of our wedding.
