ocean wedding inspiration

You can practically hear the waves crashing in the background of this balmy beach wedding by the sea, and we are in awe! This ocean-inspired editorial was dreamed up by Carly Jean Photography who wanted to use sustainable and eco-friendly details to pull this dreamy design together.

From the thrifted dishes and candlesticks to borrowed seashells and not to mention the fresh + dried florals from Alicia Voelker Designs, this shoot encompasses so many great ways to create a thoughtful, well-designed wedding without leaving a huge carbon footprint. eco-friendly inspiration

From Carly Jean Photography: This Balmy Beach Styled Shoot was inspired by natural, cool ocean tones at the time of day when the sun kisses the earth just right. We wanted to evoke a feminine ethereal feel inspired by the sea.

As I dreamed up this shoot, I played the role of the planner as well as photographer. It was crucial to me to make sure that all aspects of the shoot reflected my values of being sustainable and eco-friendly so I made sure that each element were thoughtful & purposeful in terms of sourcing.

Thrifted treasures

I was thrilled to come across Carol Hannah’s line who's effortlessly flowing gown was not only perfect for the vision, but completely sustainable made here in the USA! The other light blue gown was a gem of a find that I thrifted locally. I used my great grandmother’s seashell collection to deck out the repurposed shipping pallet-turned-table-for-two. The glassware & candlesticks were all thrifted, along with the pillows.

pretty little details

Our model’s seashell & quartz headband and veil were handcrafted in California by LoveSparklePretty, and we were honored to feature the talented hand of Martha Scribe’s breezy calligraphy. Ma Petite Maison provided a sweet touch with a simple two-tiered cake adorned minimally with seashells. Alicia Voelkner Design’s bouquet was a key element to tell the story, bringing together organic pieces that combined both fresh & dried florals to tie our romantic seaside dream together.
