Pass around a refreshing and light signature cocktail for guests before the ceremony.

Plush Catering  made this blackberry thyme sparkler. Tasty! They are located in Puerto Vallarta, pretty much the perfect spot for a destination beach wedding.

If you want to trash the dress in the ocean ... then do it! This daring couple rolled around in the waves while Ashley Strong Photography photographed them.

engagment makeup

get your makeup done

If you plan on having a  beach engagement session, we highly suggest hiring a hair and makeup artist to ensure you look your best. Like AngelaMakeMeUp! The salty air and hot sun can do a number on your hair and skin. A professional will know how to ensure that your look can withstand nature's harsh elements.

Regardless if you hire a makeup artist be sure to bring powdered blotting sheets. They will take away any shine you might have without ruining your beautiful makeup.

desert engagement session by Sarah Dupree Photography

night engagement

You caught us! The above engagement is not actually at the beach, but in the desert. However there is still sand, so technically we are not that far off.

However, our main point is we love that Sarah Dupree Photography captured this engagement session at night. Looks amazing ... right? Whether your on an actual beach or in the desert at night we love the idea of a night engagement session. Go out on a limb and ask your photographer if you can do a beach night engagement session.

pretend cake

If you are having a beach wedding, let your cake designer know. Possibly they can schedule delivery for later in the day, right before it is going to be served. So your cake will super pretty by the time it is served on top of your cake stand. Like  this cake stand from Opulent Treasures.

Pro Tip for your dessert table. Everyone wants a shot of their desert table that is fully done up before the  guests dive in. Ask your cake designer to make a dummy cake for you to stand in, so that your photographer can shoot the table in it's entirety when the light is perfect. It does not have to be crazy elaborate, just something to stand it.
