This NYC wedding went from a candlelit garden dinner to dancing under disco balls

Share

Before Emmy and Greg’s guests ever sat down for dinner, each of them received something that made the couple’s priorities immediately clear: a handwritten letter created just for them.

The deeply personal gesture captured exactly what Emmy and Greg wanted their wedding at The Foundry to be about. They envisioned a sentimental celebration that mixed the feeling of a summer garden party with their whimsical style and the industrial energy of New York City, but above all, they wanted the people they loved to feel like an essential part of it.

Photographed by Randi Roberts Photography, that intention shaped everything from a relaxed morning spent with their closest friends to a sunlit ceremony, candlelit courtyard dinner, and a dance party beneath dozens of disco balls and flowers.

The wedding morning felt like a party with their closest friends

Emmy and Greg intentionally made room in their timeline to enjoy the beginning of the day with their respective groups of friends.

Music played, snacks were abundant, and plenty of laughter filled both getting-ready spaces. Instead of treating the morning simply as preparation for the main event, they made it part of the celebration itself.

That relaxed energy set the tone for a wedding centered as much on spending time with their community as it was on the design surrounding them.

Emmy designed the stationery and wedding details herself

Emmy brought another personal layer to the celebration by designing all of the couple’s stationery and details herself.

Her work gave the wedding a visual identity that felt distinctly theirs, with playful references to their dog, Cooper, appearing throughout the day. Custom coasters, cocktail napkins, and signature drink names all gave him a place in the celebration.

The handmade approach also allowed Emmy to weave their whimsical style into the industrial setting without losing the sentimentality at the heart of the wedding.

Golden light filled their industrial ceremony space

The Foundry’s industrial architecture created a dramatic backdrop for the ceremony, which was officiated by one of Emmy’s close friends.

The couple exchanged vows in front of a large industrial window just as sunlight streamed into the room. The glow surrounded Emmy and Greg as they exchanged rings and shared their first kiss, softening the raw architectural elements of the space with warm natural light.

Above them, The Foundry’s loft level wrapped around the ceremony area, offering a unique overhead perspective and allowing the emotional reactions of the couple and their guests to become part of the visual story.

Every guest received a handwritten letter

One of Emmy and Greg’s most meaningful details was also one of the simplest.

Along with their table assignments, every guest received an individual handwritten note from the couple. During cocktail hour, friends and family could be seen reading their letters and sharing the emotional moment with Emmy and Greg.

For a couple who wanted their wedding to emphasize their love for the people around them, the notes transformed a traditional seating assignment into something far more personal.

A candlelit garden dinner filled The Foundry’s courtyard

Rather than keeping the entire reception in one space, Emmy and Greg divided the evening into two distinct experiences.

Dinner unfolded outside in The Foundry’s courtyard, where the industrial setting gave way to the feeling of an intimate summer garden party. Flowers by Ember Floral Co. and candlelight brought warmth and romance to the outdoor space, creating the garden-inspired atmosphere the couple had envisioned from the beginning.

As evening settled over the courtyard, the candlelit dinner offered a quieter, more intimate chapter before the celebration changed gears completely.

Disco balls and flowers transformed the dance floor

After dinner, guests moved back inside, where dozens of disco balls and flowers created an entirely different mood.

The reflective surfaces caught the light overhead while the floral elements connected the party back to the garden-inspired design of the earlier celebration. With an incredible DJ driving the energy, the dance floor filled almost immediately and stayed that way.

The shift from a candlelit courtyard dinner to an indoor disco party gave Emmy and Greg’s reception two distinct personalities without making the wedding feel disconnected. The garden romance remained, but after dinner it became decidedly more playful.

From handwritten letters and Cooper-inspired details to golden ceremony light and a flower-filled disco dance floor, Emmy and Greg’s wedding never relied on one theme to define it. Instead, they brought together the things that felt most like them: whimsy, summer garden romance, New York City’s industrial character, and a genuine love for the people celebrating alongside them.

The result was sentimental without being overly serious, stylish without losing its warmth, and exactly the kind of party where nobody wanted to leave the dance floor.
