The Vision: Real-Life Fairytale

With help from the talented team of Wedding Events Italy, our design vision centered on crafting a true fairytale celebration set on the breathtaking grounds of Villa Lario Resort Mandello, a historic Lake Como villa perched along the water’s edge. Our color palette was inspired by soft watercolors and the dreamy hues of Lake Como. It consisted of a mix of soft blues, pinks, lavenders, and ivories layered with fresh greens and subtle touches of gold. These pastel tones felt whimsical and romantic, echoing the movement of the water and sky surrounding the villa. The ceremony and aperitivo unfolded outdoors, inviting guests to fully immerse themselves in the dreamlike landscape, while the reception took place beneath a light-filled marquee that framed the panoramic scenery and softened it with whimsical florals and luxurious details. Throughout the evening, live music and performers infused the celebration with energy and entertainment. After cake cutting, we transitioned inside the villa for a vibrant, club-like afterparty, transforming the experience from romantic and refined into an unforgettable, joy-filled celebration. Tables were adorned with soft blue linens, gold-accented chargers, blush and gold-foiled paper goods, butterfly place cards, and ornate gold table numbers, while a dreamy installation of colored gypsophila floated above the dance floor.

The Flowers

Flowers played a huge role in shaping our fairytale atmosphere. The floral design by The Garden of Love blended airy gypsophila with lush blooms in soft pastel shades of blue, pink, purple, and white, with varying flower shapes and textures adding movement and depth. Our ceremony overlooked the lake, where a lush, floral-grounded arch framed the platform and the aisle was lined with cascading florals. Our reception took place in a clear marquee, lit with crystal chandeliers and soft blue candles. Tables were adorned with soft blue linens, gold-accented chargers, blush and gold-foiled paper goods, butterfly place cards, and ornate gold table numbers, while a dreamy installation of colored gypsophila floated above the dance floor.

Getting Ready

Surrounded by her besties, the bride showed off her new bling as they all got their glam on for the big day! The groom took a moment to soak in the vibes and then met up with his groomsmen for a quick cup of espresso, of course!

The Fashion

For the ceremony, I wore a Nettabenshabu gown in the style “Delphine,” reimagined with custom sleeves. The Basque-waist gown was crafted from delicate lace and adorned with intricate pearl detailing for a look that made me feel like a princess. After dinner, I changed into a custom couture dress by Jesus Estrada, recently featured on Project Runway. The beaded corset silhouette brought a more modern, high-fashion vibe with a deep slit and matching scarf.

The Escort Display

During cocktail hour, guests made their way to an escort display crafted from vintage gold mirrors. Fixed to the mirror with gilded wax seals were table numbers and each of the guests’ names. This is a simple yet stunning way to help your guests find their seats and would be a totally doable DIY!

The Ride

The couple couldn’t resist taking a spin on the lake in a private boat. Does it get any more romantic than this???

The Cake

For dessert, the couple cut into a dramatic four-tiered wedding cake. The towering confection was decorated in fresh buttercream frosting and flowers. Then sparks flew and champagne flowed as the party continued well into the night.
