This spring Midwest wedding bloomed just before the rain arrived

Share

Steph and Dylan’s early spring wedding in Michigan at Watermark Country Club captured that fleeting moment between seasons, when winter begins to loosen its grip and the first signs of spring quietly emerge. Photographed by Kellie Hetler, soft light, cool air, and blooming florals created a celebration that felt hopeful, romantic, and wonderfully alive, with the rain holding off until every meaningful moment had unfolded.

Wedding flower design by a florist bride

As a florist herself, Steph approached the floral design with Sycamore Design Studio with both artistry and heart, creating arrangements that felt deeply personal while celebrating the beauty of early spring.

Dreamy shades of dusty pink, soft peach, buttery cream, and fresh greenery layered the celebration with movement and texture. Rather than competing with the surrounding landscape, the flowers embraced the season’s quiet elegance, bringing warmth and color to every space.

Each arrangement reflected Steph’s signature style – romantic, organic, and effortlessly beautiful.

An outdoor Spring garden ceremony

The couple exchanged vows on the lawn beneath an overcast sky that only added to the romance of the day.

The clouds softened the light, creating an intimate atmosphere as guests gathered outdoors in the crisp spring air. Although rain had lingered in the forecast, it graciously held off throughout the ceremony, allowing every heartfelt moment to unfold exactly as planned.

Only later, after the celebration was well underway, did gentle raindrops begin to fall, tapping softly against the reception as though they had patiently waited their turn.

A reception in soft, seasonal colors

Planned with help from All Buttoned Up Events, the celebration continued with the same effortless elegance that defined the day from the very beginning.

Soft seasonal colors, lush floral textures, and thoughtful details created an inviting atmosphere where guests could settle in, celebrate, and enjoy the simple beauty of gathering together.

Every design choice reflected the fresh optimism of spring while remaining timeless enough to feel beautiful in any season.

A cloudy spring day to remember

There was something beautifully fitting about the rhythm of the day. Clouds drifted overhead, the air carried the last whispers of winter, and the rain arrived only after the vows had been exchanged. It felt less like unpredictable weather and more like nature quietly playing its part.

For Steph and Dylan, the celebration wasn’t defined by sunshine or blue skies. It was defined by the people they love, the flowers they thoughtfully designed, and a day that unfolded with perfect timing, proving that sometimes the most beautiful weddings are the ones that embrace the season exactly as it is.
