When Olivia and Tyler matched on a dating app, neither knew they were stepping into a season that would change everything. From the very first date at Boxcar in Raleigh, something felt different, and after Olivia met Tyler’s beloved grandfather, he just knew it was meant to be. Their North Carolina wedding was a blueprint for modern autumn romance: a pastel and oxblood palette, sky-blue accents, soaring florals, and full indoor trees—all flawlessly brought to life by Elizabeth Flake Eventss. With personal touches like a Phillies-inspired “will call” station and a dessert display wrapped in velvet drape, Olivia and Tyler’s celebration captured by Michelle Elyse Photography at The Historic Wakefield Barn balanced warmth, intimacy, and elevated fall style.

A venue that felt like “them”
The Historic Wakefield Barn was the first venue Olivia and Tyler toured, and the moment they pulled into the drive, they knew it was perfect. It was elegant yet understated, warm yet grand—a perfect mirror of their relationship.

Groom’s style: vintage & burgundy
Tyler wore a custom-layered ensemble featuring a burgundy dinner jacket, Steve Madden shoes, and his cherished family heirloom—a gold necklace crafted for his grandfather in the 1960s. His Grand Seiko “Cherry Blossom” watch served as a subtle nod to the day’s pastel undertones.

Perfect pastel combo: skyblue & pink
The bridesmaids wore elegant sky-blue dresses with dramatic draping and complementary pastel pink bouquets with delicate oxblood accents.

Autumn glow ceremony inspo
Timed perfectly with the fading autumn sun, the outdoor ceremony was bathed in golden light as Olivia walked down the aisle in a stunning Robert Bullock crepe mermaid gown with structured long sleeves and a plunging neckline. Her Naturalizer heels, pearl earrings from Diamonds Direct, and soft waves completed her effortlessly classic look.

Phillies-inspired “will call” moment
As a surprise to honor Tyler’s lifelong love of baseball—and his grandfather— Elizabeth Flake Events designed a Phillies-inspired seating assignment station complete with:
-
A custom bell-shaped ticket logo redesigned with a “B” for Burns
-
Cracker Jacks in branded boxes
-
A vintage “will call” counter where guests picked up their tickets and treats
It was interactive, unexpected, and a fan-favorite moment of the night!

The menu: elevated & seasonal
After grabbing their Cracker Jacks and drinks, guests enjoyed a baseball-themed cocktail hour before moving into the barn for a locally inspired plated dinner by Donovan’s Dish —featuring smoked meats, roasted vegetables, and curated wine pairings.

Autumn color palette: oxblood, pink, and blue
The reception with florals by Once Gathered was a masterclass in putting together a burgundy and blue palette. Pink and burgundy floral tablecloths added elegant texture, while patterned plates, leaf-shaped place cards, and soft centerpieces with plenty of candles elevated the vignette.

Tree-framed dessert display
Instead of one large statement cake, Olivia and Tyler opted for a collection of bite-sized desserts with a simple, elegant two-tier cake by LBS Cakes for their ceremonial cutting. The dessert area, framed by velvet drape and living trees, created a cozy, romantic vignette in the busy reception space.

After-the-fact custom artwork
After the wedding, Tyler commissioned an original art piece from a Savannah artist—based on a photo of the two of them standing beneath their chuppah. It is now displayed in their home as a tribute to their wedding day, his grandfather’s love of art, and the emotional thread that connects their story. From the pastel-and-oxblood palette to the Phillies-inspired surprises, from the golden-hour ceremony glow to the dramatic barn transformation, Olivia and Tyler’s wedding was a show-stopping celebration grounded in heart, family, and unwavering love.
