their love story

garden wedding venue in north carolina

Taylor joined a team of volunteers in 2018 while working on a political campaign. Cliff was also part of the team, and it wasn’t long before the two hit it off. Taylor quickly became the top volunteer, largely to intentionally spend more time with Cliff. After the election, she asked Cliff out for a drink, and they’ve been together ever since. They were engaged in 2023 during a trip to Amsterdam—their first international trip together. Cliff proposed on the first night, making the moment all the more sentimental as he popped the question on a balcony overlooking the canals, using his grandmother’s engagement ring.

the vision: rustic romance

rustic pastel wedding reception

With a focus on intimacy and intention, Taylor and Cliff’s wedding was a celebration of North Carolina’s blossoming summer, the company of cherished loved ones, and—above all—exceptional food. As effortless as the gardens at The North Carolina Arboretum, the ceremony procession wove through wooden arbors before gathering at the steps of a rustic garden pergola. Lavender-hued ferns added an unexpected touch of whimsy to the colorful florals by Pollen. Their reception at Rhubarb embraced the effortlessly chic, blending family-style dining with a warm, welcoming interior. In place of dancing, the evening centered around heartfelt speeches shared over dinner, creating an atmosphere rich in storytelling and connection. Taylor and Cliff treasured the meaningful time spent with their guests and shared this advice with other couples: find the strength to say no when needed, and let go of stress in favor of staying close to the people who matter most.

Natural light poured through the windows of the cabin as Cliff and Taylor got ready for the big day. Taylor’s mom and MOH helped her into her gown, and she couldn’t resist taking a spin around the room.

We are absolutely enamored with Taylor’s romantic off-the-shoulder gown from BHLDN. It’s definitely giving romantasy vibes. Cliff opted for an ocean-blue suit and a Kelly green tie for the occasion, a vibrant and refreshing color combo!

Their first look unfolded at a cozy Airbnb, where a rolling hillside perfectly framed the sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Among their favorite simple pleasures was their beloved dog, Spencer, who donned a special-occasion kilt, adding charm and personality to their family portraits.
