Is there anything prettier than a Bahamian sunset? Only a wedding inspired by one…and that was exactly the inspo behind this gorgeous tropical island wedding. With palm trees swaying in the ocean breeze and guests shielded from the sun by sunset-hued parasols, the day was off to a beautiful start. Guests then moved indoors for a ballroom reception filled with vibrant florals and playful signage. the vibe: bahamian sunset
Set in a private garden venue in Nassau, Bahamas, Mariah and Haylen’s wedding embraced the vibrant colors of a beach sunset with a celebration that was playful, personal, and full of tropical charm. Mariah and Haylen fell in love with the Bahamas but didn’t want a resort wedding because we wanted something more private and intimate so Mariah did some research on instagram and found the venue, Sapodilla Estate. They flew back after getting engaged and toured it and it was just perfect. A very garden style venue with Bahamas touches and beautiful colors. Mariah did a lot of the back end planning when it came to the vision but their planner in the Bahamas, Tia, and a local design team of Beyond the Decor 242 did the rest of the job from there. It was so special to them that sixty of their closest family and friends made the trip all of the way to the Bahamas to celebrate them for the long weekend. They truly have the best circle of people to support their love.
their love story
Mariah and Haylen met through social media. Mariah sent Haylen a few DMs a couple of years before they met. They had their first date at Hotel Drover in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Then about a year later, Haylen proposed at Hotel Drover.
the stationery
To get their guests excited about the destination wedding, the couple sent out invitations designed to look like pink passports and boarding passes. Such a cute idea!
the fashion
Mariah’s dress was by Elyssee Bridal, which I originally saw on Pinterest months before we got engaged, and I found at the Blush Bridal Lounge in Austin. The style was Atreides. The bridesmaids’ dresses were all different sunset colors and different styles and they each had bouquets to match. The groom and groomsmen wore tan linen suits from Men’s Warehouse. Our dads and my brother were in tan tuxes from Generation Tux, and they were great. Mariah changed into an adorable mini dress that was her mom’s wedding dress, redesigned.
the cake
Practically the centerpiece of the wedding reception, the wedding cake got its very own floral arrangement and table.
The wedding cake was a vintage design, had a floral meadow around it, and the flavor was red velvet.
