the vision: draped in elegance

I wanted each detail to be timeless, elegant, and unique, but filled with love and feeling. My dream was to have a sentimental ceremony during a beautiful sunset and then walk into a warm, romantic, stunning, and FUN reception that no one would forget! And, thanks to Courtney J Events, I got my dream! I wanted classic white florals mixed with natural elements and greenery. I had the idea to make the centerpieces tree-like, and our florist, The Bloom House, built branches into the design and used different types of greenery, like amaranthus, to make the design more interesting. I wanted florals dripping from the ceilings, and the Mint Springs Farm team (shout out to our awesome planner, Courtney) did not disappoint. From the floral installation over the dance floor, and running above the farm tables, to building a sweetheart table hanging chandelier design that hadn’t been done before, everything I envisioned came to life! And it was so beautiful.

the food

We love to have fun and are major foodies. Having the live sushi bar at cocktail hour was such a cool touch on top of the incredible catering and drinks. No one left hungry, and no one could stop talking about the Sushi!

Our love is very real, authentic, and special. It was important to me that our guests felt our love at the core of our ceremony and reception. And that they also had fun! We just had a blast and enjoyed each other and our guests. We danced all night long! We didn’t linger on the timeline or go through the motions of “what you’re supposed to”. Our photographer and videographer, Nina and Jackson, were great with this- just capturing the real moments as they happened – nothing staged. We just stayed in the moment and wanted to soak it up together. We didn’t leave each other’s side!
the first dance

Every moment was so special. One moment that sticks out was when our friends and family were standing around us and giving us their full attention as we shared our first dance. All the happy tears were flowing, and they were cheering us on the whole time. It was surreal to have all of our people in one place, witnessing and celebrating our love.
the fashion

My mom, sister, and I went to try on dresses at Brides By Glitz. My dress was the third dress I tried on! I had actually pictured myself in a plain satin dress, but when I saw myself in that dress, I just knew. It was so different than everything I have ever seen, with the pearl bodice and the amazingly detailed underlay. We all just knew it was the one. I felt so beautiful. For the bridesmaids, I wanted something timeless and classic. I had my bridesmaids in a beautiful black strapless gown by Alfred Sung, with a bow detail on the back. They wore this with pearl chokers and faux fur stoles and looked like a million bucks! Instead of a bouquet toss, I dedicated my bouquet to my mom! I feel that the mother of the bride never gets their moment on the wedding day, and they are almost always the one who helped it all come to life. It was so special to surprise her with that.

We went with the classic black tux for the groom and groomsmen. However, Layton’s one request was that he do an outfit change after the ceremony into a white tux jacket before we entered the reception! It was a cool moment, and he looked so handsome!

the cake

For dessert, the couple cut into a dramatic four-tiered cake decorated in cream-colored frosting and an oversized satin bow.
words of wisdom from the happy couple

I would advise other couples to dream big. Lay it all out there of what you want and what feels most like you. Most likely, your team can make it happen! Try not to get caught up in what everyone else is doing at their weddings. What will make it most memorable is if it is authentically you. And don’t leave each other’s sides on the actual day. It goes by so fast, and you don’t want to miss a moment together!
