When a hurricane threatened this wedding pro’s wedding on Martha’s Vineyard, the couple decided to take the risk and carry on as planned. true love can weather any storm
True love is worth celebrating even if a storm is looming on the horizon, and Meghan and Anthony experienced just that when Hurricane Lee appeared in their wedding weekend forecasts. Meghan, a Senior Meeting and Event Manager at KG Events & Design, had talked clients through terrible wedding conditions before, but this time, the shoe was on the other foot. However, she wasn’t in it alone and experienced the same love she has shared with other couples when her sister and wedding planner Kristen Gosselin of KG Events & Design stepped in and took the reins on all of the vendor logistics. Family and friends didn’t let the impending storm stop them from supporting the couple and traveled out to the island even knowing the hurricane was on its way. This became one of the highlights of their big day as Meghan and Anthony got to feel the true care and love of the people they care for most rallying around them. And in true fairytale fashion, the storm held steady and didn’t arrive until the day after their wedding!

Nine years before their wedding day, Meghan and Anthony had one of their first dates at the Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs. After initially looking at venues outside of Martha’s Vineyard, the couple decided the place was simply too special not to return to for their big day. It ended up being a decision they wouldn’t regret as they and the people they love most were able to celebrate close to home and somewhere near and dear to their hearts.
thought out fashion
The details of the wedding day fashion were subtle but significant for the couple. The bride wore a stunning Daalarna Couture gown with floral accents and Amina Muaddi leather slingback pumps. The groom wore an Indochino suit, but the smaller accents held important personal touches. Custom cufflinks adorned his suit with the face of the couple’s Golden Retriever, a small but beautiful touch as their pup couldn’t be there on the big day.
embracing color
Meghan is no stranger to helping plan weddings and has, over the years, noticed couples who are scared to embrace color in their designs. For them, color was not only something to embrace but something that would complement their outgoing personalities! With “colorful” in mind, the vibrant details began to pull everything together. Floral designer and friend of the bride, Emily Coulter of Morrice Florist, took the lead to bring out the couple’s essence with the perfect touch of colorful florals.

This lovely tasseled escort card display could work for just about any wedding design. We love that they used a printed backdrop and a mix of different colored tassels to incorporate every part of the wedding color palette in one vignette.

The cake, carefully designed by Val Stoyer, only added to tying everything together with its own intricate addition of colorful edible pressed flowers.
celebrating with sustainability in mind
As someone who works for KG Events & Design, Meghan followed their sustainable approach to wedding planning and made it an important part of her big day. The couple avoided any single-use plastics, sourced local flowers from the island, and even worked with Shop Rowley to use sustainable brands for their attire. The cuisine of the day was also inspired by the love of local seafood and the accessibility and sustainability of sourcing locally. Each menu was specifically curated to reflect what was in season for the island at the time of the wedding.
