When planning their winter wedding, Anna and Stephen leaned fully into the season’s magic. After saying, “I do” in Anna’s childhood church, they toasted, danced, and partied with loved ones in a beautiful space dressed for the holidays. A roaring fireplace, countless candles, and an elegant color palette of deep evergreen, white, and gold brought warmth to their big day despite the chilly weather outside.
Springvine Design used pine garlands throughout the classic ivory floral arrangements to give them a winter feel. It must have smelled just like Christmas morning when the guests walked into the ballroom for the first time.
their love story
It was Thanksgiving break when Anna and Stephen first connected, but it wasn’t until Anna returned home from law school for Christmas that they would go on their first date. And just like that, a romantic night out turned into a full-fledged love story by New Year’s!
When Stephen turned 30, he took Anna home to celebrate in Chicago, making it clear that she shouldn’t expect a proposal on his birthday trip (despite the photo session in Lincoln Park!). Anna believed him! Lo and behold, she was surprised to find him on one knee at the end of their photo session. It was an easy yes! They celebrated over dinner with custom menus and a bottle of reserve wine specially ordered by Anna’s father.

From the sketch of their venue, Myers Park Country Club, on their wedding invitations to the portraits of their dogs and custom crest on the cocktail napkins, this wedding was full of personalized details that added that extra something special to every moment.

The dress code for this winter wedding was black-tie. Who doesn’t want a reason to buy a fancy new fit for the holidays? The groom wore a classic black tuxedo for the big day with a unique feathered bowtie and patent leather loafers to add his own twist on tradition. The bride stunned in a lace long-sleeved ballgown for the ceremony then slipped into a slinky slip dress to dance the night away.

In the holiday spirit, guests found bells tied to their place cards—a whimsical way to greet the newlyweds and later take home as a Christmas ornament.

Tall cakes are back and this four-tiered beauty was perfectly timeless. We also love how Delish Cakery mimicked the lace on the bride’s dress on every other tier!

And, of course, no winter wedding is complete with a bit of snow. The happy couple departed their wedding to a beautiful dusting of snow and an antique Bentley!
