A 3 day, 5 event, Hindu wedding extravaganza with a hint of Tay Swift

Share

Indian bride in silver Lehenga

Extra doesn’t even begin to cover this over-the-top fairytale Hindu wedding. The 3-day 5-event celebration turns wedding planning into an extreme sport. Every event had its own theme and color palette and obvi outfits (plural!) to go with it! And while this luxe wedding had a budget of $200,000+ we love that the couple made a point to purchase each bridal outfit and piece of jewelry from an independent designer or small business! We weren’t shocked when we found out this couple’s first dance went viral recently on TikTok. Keep scrolling…and you’ll see why.

Working closely with the bride to curate each event, Atelier A Events certainly had their work cut out for them with this wedding and to say we’re merely impressed would be an understatement. We’re in AWE of how beautifully planned and orchestrated everything was! With its many versatile open spaces, Dreams Natura Mexico was the perfect venue for this multi-event celebration. Each location is unique yet cohesive with the rest of the wedding design. Luke Fotoliv was there for every moment and captured each magnificent detail and documented the joy and tradition of this lovely wedding. Read on to hear more from the bride about this truly one-of-a-kind wedding.

mehendi and welcome party

We had a Mediterranean blue and white theme for this event. Inspired by the evil eye, a symbol I am personally obsessed with. We had requested all of our guests to wear blue or white. All guests could get the mehendi done at this event. The mehendi event is a way for guests to bless the bride and wish her good health and prosperity. For this event, we merged the mehendi ceremony with a welcome party. Guests enjoyed good food and signature cocktails.

The Pithi or Haldi ceremony is essential in Hinduism as it helps the bride and groom “prep” for their wedding by cleansing and purifying their bodies. After the prayer, guests were invited to apply turmeric to the groom’s and bride’s faces and bodies. After guests applied the turmeric, we had our guests spray us with water guns, and then we ran into the ocean.

sangeet

modern floral sustainable Lehenga

The Sangeet is all about music and dancing. We had street-style Indian food at the start of the event. We had about 6 performances from friends, family, and our bridal party. We ended the night with Garba, a traditional form of dance from Gujarat, India. The bride’s outfit was from a sustainable designer in India who only makes bespoke orders. All excess fabric is then used to make purses, tops, dresses, and other items. Nothing is wasted.

Hindu wedding ceremony

Hindu wedding ceremony with white and red roses over the pool

I’ve always dreamt of having a female priestess officiate and perform my wedding ceremony. We were able to find one who performed the whole ceremony in English so all of our guests could enjoy it. Our ceremony was performed on a clear platform covering an infinity pool. It felt like we were floating, and the beach provided the best backdrop. Our decor was red and white floral arrangements to match my outfits. I had a custom platform made that groomsman carried me to the altar in. We had a mired aisle that led to the mandap (altar). It was breathtaking. My outfit is from a designer called Marwar Couture. They create the most extravagant and details lehengas I’ve ever seen. Everything is hand-done. I felt extremely regal in my lehenga.

I am obsessed with disco balls and wanted my outfit to replicate one, and I wanted our reception to be completely decked out in them. We went with a theme that incorporated disco balls with greenery. We had a mirrored dance floor. My outfit was custom-made by Seema Gujral, a prominent Indian clothing designer. Kevin wore a custom tuxedo from J.Hilburn. Our first dance was to the song “Snow on the Beach” by Taylor Swift (I am a huge fan and recently had a TikTok go viral for the video of the first dance). We had a confetti shower in the middle of our first dance. We had speeches, toasts, and performances at our reception. I performed with all my bridesmaids. We ended the night with an open dance floor.
