Every year ten creatives in the wedding industry from all over the world convene in Fuerteventura to explore the unique and wild settings that the island has to offer. From stunning beaches to rock formations and desert landscapes Fuerteventura is a magical wedding destination just waiting for lucky couples to discover it. This creative retreat, made possible thanks to the support of the Tourist Board of Fuerteventura and Promotor Canarias (The Government of the Canary Islands), focuses on highlighting the island’s natural beauty and helping modern couples envision how magical a wedding on Fuerteventura could be.
Beautiful 365
As part of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura enjoys beautiful weather year-round and has plenty of incredible outdoor spaces where couples can exchange vows and celebrate their marriage. This year’s shoot took place in one of the many scenic desert locations and boasted views of incredible rock formations and of course, gorgeous golden sand as far as the eye could see. And just like marriage, the Dunas Project is just as much about the journey as it is the finish line. The team arrived in style in a perfectly themed white Jeep.
What To Wear
For a couple adventurous enough to pull off this destination wedding, the typical wedding wardrobe simply wouldn’t do. The bride for the shoot rocked a voluminous embroidered organza mini dress with 3D floral appliques and feather details that danced in the breeze. White boots completed the look and are the perfect accessory for a desert wedding. The team decided her hair should be up to maximize comfort but slightly disheveled to give her that effortlessly chic vibe and it helps that it only gets better as the day goes on. The eyes were the focus of the makeup with a warm smokey eye that played up the colors of the natural surroundings. The groom wore a black suit with a light blue shirt that pulled in the gorgeous blue of the sky above.
Desert Rose(s)
And while flowers in the desert may seem like an impossible feat, in the magical island that is Fuerteventura, wedding professionals can do just about anything you could do at a normal venue (but better because…THAT VIEW). For this shoot, they went all out with stunning pastel roses in asymmetrical ground arrangements that mimic the modern white custom arch that graced the end of the aisle. To ensure that the beautiful landscape was the focal point, the team used clear acrylic ghost chairs for the guests that literally disappeared into the background.
Dinner Under A Perfect Sky
Then, to showcase the true versatility of the location, the team set up a stunning tablescape right there in the middle of the dessert! Matte black stoneware and black candlesticks added a modern and moody touch to the otherwise pastel color scheme. Can’t you just picture, eating a delicious meal with your closest friends and family as you watch the sunset over the dunes? One word–BREATHTAKING!
