I have a confession to make. I’ve never been the biggest fan of black dresses for bridesmaids. I loveeee myself a LBD, and I’ve worn many to weddings before. But, I don’t know, I just like to see some color on a bride squad. All this being said, I wore a black bridesmaid dress for my best friend’s wedding in September, and it looked pretty effing amazing. Like, as a group, we looked 👌. So, I’ve definitely come around on the idea. Took me a while to get there, but now that I’m on board with black gowns for the girls, I’ve become kind of obsessed.
The bosses in the bridal/maids world – from Jenny Yoo to Dessy, Revelry to Hayley Paige – have been showing up for this all-black party for years. And yet, they’re still turning out some of the sickest onyx ensems for the entourage. Not just on-point for Halloween, either, these black dresses are insanely wearable for every wedding season: winter, spring, summer or fall.
Plus, some other things we 🖤 about the moody mode for maids:
-
If you’re doing a mix and match motif with the girls, black is mixed media MAJOR. You can do all-over sequins for your MOH or dress her in solid black while the rest of the pretties wear black prints.
-
If you don’t want to go made-to-order for your bridesmaids, you can find some awesome black RTW fashions for them with noooo trouble at all, because black is black is black.
-
If you’re looking for something that’s flattering for every girl in your gang, then black is your best bet. Truly, you can’t pick a more shape-friendly shade.
