This Pittsburgh Engagement Session Will Have You Dreaming Of Yours

Romantic couple embracing in the park during golden hour

Hundreds of miles between them wasn’t enough to keep these two love birds apart, and love won the day! Their engagement session perfectly captured the love between them in the form of breathtaking photos by Joey Kennedy.

The Frick Museum was their venue of choice and we can’t get over how stunning it is!! The lighting was phenomenal, the outfits were flawless, the scenery was naturally gorgeous, and we can’t wait for you to see it all in the full gallery.

When Opposites Attract, Love Blossoms

From the bride: Our story began while we were both students at Penn State. We met
through the student-run charity organization known as THON and became
quick friends. It wasn’t until the following year that our romance
bloomed and after our first date, I knew I could see myself marrying
him. Our relationship started with us in different parts of the country –
myself in Chicago for optometry school and Matt in Houston for his job.
Our relationship is definitely an example of “opposites attract”. I am
extremely outgoing and rarely think before I jump. Matt is very calm and
logical and helps to keep me grounded. It truly feels like we fit
together and that we bring out the best in one another.

A Little Elegant & A Little Organic

After almost four years of long distance, we found ourselves settled
back in our hometown of Pittsburgh. After an entire day full of
surprises (all catered to things I love and hold near and dear to my
heart), Matt finally popped the question and I tearfully said yes!

With our wedding taking place at the Carnegie Natural History Museum
located in downtown Pittsburgh, it was an easy choice to make the affair
black-tie. We wanted that theme to be emulated throughout our photos
and I have always loved sessions where the couple’s formality contrasted
with natural surroundings.

When You Find The Perfect Photographer

The Frick Museum was a perfect fit. With it’s historical significance to
Pittsburgh and its beautiful architecture and botanical gardens, all we
needed was the right photographer to bring our vision to life: enter
Joey.

We had admired Joey Kennedy’s photography for a long time and choosing him as
our photographer was one of the first decisions we made about our
wedding. We fell in love with his style and his knack for capturing a
visually stunning photo, no matter what the subject. Matt and I had
never done anything like this prior to shooting our engagement session
that August evening, but Joey made it effortless and fun. The results
were exactly what we had envisioned and Joey made it a reality. His
excellent direction resulted in photographs we will cherish for the rest
of our lives.
