For their fall wedding, this couple wanted something moody and elegant. Their planner urged them to lean into a burgundy and pink color palette, and we love the way it turned out. The deep burgundy is even more impactful when paired with a pastel pink and the lighter shades add a touch of softness to an otherwise dark color palette. The bridesmaids’ gowns also added color to the wedding with mix and match silhouettes in a striking burgundy, and we love the unexpected light suits for the groom and his groomsmen.
With its outdoor chapel and wooden barn, Oak Hill Farms added the perfect amount of rustic to their dream of a moody Southern wedding. Kaitie Gill Weddings worked closely with the couple to plan their dream wedding and was there to ease their minds when it was raining all day right up until their outdoor ceremony. A MISTY START TO A BEAUTIFUL DAY
It had been misting all morning the day of Tom and Maddy’s moody, rustic wedding, but the rain was supposed to break before their ceremony. Since their ceremony was planned to happen outdoors, the groom and groomsmen went to the nearest store and bought all the towels they had so guests could sit on them during the ceremony. The store clerk looked at them very strangely, but guests were grateful for the towels. The rain did indeed break just long enough for them to have their outdoor ceremony and the overcast pictures ended up being totally worth the unpredictable weather. “As a wedding planner there are just some weddings that you really look forward to, and Maddy and Tom’s wedding was one of those for me. They are the absolute kindest couple and Maddy fully trusted me when it came to helping with her wedding design. The burgundy and pink fall color scheme with vintage dinnerware details was a dream and truly brought their reception space to life,” says Kaitie Gill, planner for Kaitie Gill Weddings.
POPPING THE QUESTION
For the proposal, Tom took Maddy on a weekend getaway to Longbow Resort in Prim, Arkansas. The owners are family friends of Tom’s and he wanted Maddy to meet them. Once ready, the couple went outside where a photographer was taking pictures of a waterfall and asked if he could take a few photos of them. He placed them in the perfect spot right in front of the waterfall and when Maddy turned around to face Tom, he was down on his knee with a ring box in his hand. Maddy explains, “I literally could not even tell you what he said to me. I just kept saying yes, yes, yes! Come to find out, the photographer was Tom’s friend. He planned it all so perfectly and the location was absolutely stunning. It was better than I could have ever imagined!”
SPICING THINGS UP
Tom and Maddy met at the University of Arkansas where they discovered their mutual love of Mexican restaurant date nights. With Mexican food being the couple’s favorite, it is no wonder they chose a festive fajita bar by Vibrant Occasions Catering. The spread consisted of grilled chicken tossed with colorful peppers and onions, slow-simmered shredded beef, rice, refried beans, and Mexican street corn. Guests could top this delicious entree or a bevy of tortilla chips off with creamy white cheese dip, Pico de Gallo, shredded lettuce, sour cream, jalapenos, and shredded cheese.
