Hiring A Planner Is More Important Now Than Ever Before…Here’s Why

Couple embraces on a sofa at an elegant outdoor wedding reception

Now, more than ever before, hiring a wedding planner is absolutely crucial! Not only do they help bring your wedding vision to life, coordinate with vendors, and keep everything organized, in this tumultuous climate, they will be your fiercest advocate. With millions of weddings postponed due to COVID, there is a line a mile long with couples waiting to reschedule their wedding, and venues and vendors are struggling to accommodate everyone in such a short amount of time. This is where your wedding planner and their connections come in. You want someone on your side who has a relationship with these vendors and venues and will likely get further than you will making cold calls.

This couple was forced to postpone their wedding twice but Nicole George Event Planning & Design was with them the entire time and helped them regroup and reschedule. In the end, their SoCal garden wedding at the Darlington House was everything they hoped for and more! These photos by Shelly Anderson Photography capture all of the love and emotion from that day as well as the gorgeous California sunshine that gives the entire wedding an otherworldly glow! Make sure to check out this beautiful video by Amari Productions and the rest of the photos in the full gallery. To hear more from Planner, Nicole George about this heartfelt day, keep scrolling.

RIDING THE WAVES

Nearly two years in the making, Deanna and Andrew’s wedding was the first celebration that many, including all vendors, were able to enjoy post-pandemic! Their Southern California wedding was put on pause while the pandemic impacted the world, specifically their home in New York City. After two postponements and two years of planning, their intimate alfresco garden celebration was one that will go down as a favorite of ours! Deanna and Andrew hosted their Southern California wedding at the historic Darlington House in La Jolla, California, chosen for its Spanish architecture, brick-clad courtyards, private gardens, and homey nooks. Deanna and Andrew wanted to create a quintessential Southern California experience for their East Coast guests so the natural beauty of the venue and our garden-style alfresco design in the beauty of springtime was the perfect location and time of year.

A WARM WELCOME

Elegant outdoor lounge with sofa chairs and coffee table decor

Along with beautiful SoCal weather, guests enjoyed a cozy welcoming atmosphere from the moment they stepped inside the front door. The rose garden provided a perfect backdrop for their ceremony where we chose wooden accents to balance the natural aesthetic. Lush florals by Native Poppy adorned the arch and aisle. Guests enjoyed the courtyards for specialty cocktails (specifically, the Araya, named after their kitty), where velvet linens, soft florals, and cozy lounges from To Be Designed San Diego allowed guests to feel comfortable and relaxed as they listened to the sound of live music from Still Listening Productions. The rose garden transformed into a breathtaking array of texture and color as their wooden family-style farm tables with pillar candles and organic florals balanced the dancefloor with the sweetheart table in focus. The Jenny Wenny funfetti cake, a must for this couple’s sweet tooth, couldn’t have been more beautifully surrounded by cascading florals.

LEAVE IT TO THE PROS

In perfect intimate fashion, guests enjoyed course after course, toast after toast, and laugh after laugh throughout the evening. As the stars appeared, the market lights and candles set the tone for a perfect warm evening just in time for Miho Catering Co‘s affogato station and tray-passed desserts to end the night. Keeping the day light-hearted and easy, Deanna and Andrew’s friends and family created the most perfect intimate celebration that was long overdue! If there is anything to learn from Deanna and Andrew, it is to be patient and flexible! 2020 taught us that weddings will have their challenges and hiring a team of professionals to guide you through the good, the bad, and the unexpected is crucial regardless of a pandemic or not. Nicole George Event Planning & Design is beyond thankful that Deanna and Andrew rolled with the punches and trusted us to advocate for them behind the scenes and come up with creative solutions to unexpected changes.
