Intimate Charleston Wedding at Hotel Bennett

Charleston wedding photo with bride and groom palm trees

Originally being from New York, Emily and Michael got the short end of the stick when trying to plan their wedding due to Covid-19. After having to reschedule numerous times, the Mount Pleasant Locals decided to get married in the place where their love began. To the bride’s surprise, her best friend surprised her the night before the wedding so she could be there for her on her most important day

The Happy Bloom was there to capture all the fun details, Dock House Digital to film, and Pure Luxe Bride planned every detail. You can see all the images in the full gallery. Read on to hear all about this intimate wedding from Pure Luxe Bride.

A small and intimate gathering of 15 friends and family celebrated the couple on a beautiful day outside in Downtown Charleston at Hotel Bennett. Amongst the ethereal decor and the abundance of dreamy flowers by Petaloso, Emily and Michael tied the knot. As the night came to an end, the couple was graced with a beautiful cotton candy colored sky over the Lowcountry.

The Bride wanted a whimsical feel for her design so we opted for a branchy structure across the dining space. We accented with florals running the length of the table from Snyder Event Rentals in shades of pink and accented with natural greenery and linens by Nuage. The flowers used in the tabletop were peonies, butterfly ranunculus, garden roses, anemones and ruscus.

They began their first moment as husband and wife dancing to the classic and lovely song, The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra, so be sure to keep scrolling to see. As the night came to an end, the couple was graced with a beautiful cotton candy colored sky over the lowcountry.

1) What was your vision for your wedding day? What made you choose certain colors or decor?

Our initial vision was a bit different as we were planning to get married in Buffalo, NY in May. However, once we made the decision to move our wedding to Charleston due to COVID-19, we wanted to have a beautiful, classic, light environment. I was dreaming of whimsical pink florals with vines throughout the design. I had my eye on the bridesmaid dresses since we got engaged in Dec 2018, so the blueish/grey color also needed to be incorporated. I felt the pink pastel florals and bridesmaid dresses really came together nicely. I have always dreamed of having a long table for the dinner and because we went from 220 guests to 16, we were able to have the most beautiful tablescape. The gold detailing from the tablecloth to the chargers, really played on my love of all things gold.

2) What is the moment you remember most about your wedding day?

There are so many beautiful memories. I would say one of the most memorable was when we were able to relax a little bit and do the cake cutting/ listen to the beautiful speeches from my dad, our maid of honor, and best man. However, the most special was when we had a few minutes alone right after the ceremony. It truly felt amazing to just have those few moments pure happiness and relief (after changing wedding plans twice!) that we finally were married!

3) What’s next for you and your husband?

We are building a home in Summerville! We are excited to lay down roots in South Carolina.
